After the start-of-term Sorting Ceremony for the new students concluded, the opening feast officially began. Following a whole year of culinary exchanges, the dishes in the Hogwarts kitchens had undergone a dramatic transformation. Roast turkeys gleaming with a golden crust, fragrant and smooth mashed potatoes, crystal-clear fruit tarts, and a variety of marvelous desserts dazzled the eye and made everyone's mouths water. While enjoying the delicious food, the students chatted in low voices, sharing amusing stories from the summer holidays or discussing their speculations about the new academic year. The outside world's speculations about You-Know-Who and the disputes within the Ministry of Magic seemed not to have penetrated the school grounds.
