Chapter 13: Selling Antiques to Foreigners
Lin Xian gathered the child into his arms. The little boy clearly recognized him; he managed a faint smile, though tears continued to stream down his face.
"Haha, it’s alright. Here, have a candy." Lin Xian pulled a lollipop from his pocket. With a quick flick of his fingers, he unwrapped the paper, revealing the red candy inside.
Liu Ruyan looked on, helpless. When was this, and he was worried about feeding the kid candy?
The viewers in the livestream felt the same way.
"Damn it, he’s giving him a lollipop? If you aren't going to call an ambulance, at least do something to help!"
"Seriously, if he waits any longer, that little boy’s arm is going to be ruined!"
"F*ck, is this guy just trying to show off because he knows he’s on camera?"
"Feels like it. People his age love to act cool."
"I’m speechless. He’s so cold-blooded, putting on such a fake, pretentious act!"
The boy took the lollipop from Lin Xian and gave it a tentative lick. Taking advantage of the moment, Lin Xian caught the boy’s arm and gave it a sharp, quick shake.
"Hey..."
Liu Ruyan saw his rough handling and was about to speak up, but Lin Xian had already pulled his hand away. Just as the boy began to feel the pain and was about to cry out, Lin Xian uttered two words: "All done."Liu Ruyan stared at Lin Xian in complete astonishment. That was it? What had he even done? Didn't he just give the little boy's arm a tug?
The viewers in the livestream were also amused by Lin Xian’s two words.
"That's it? I was wondering how he was going to show off, but turns out this is how he does it—by forcing the patient to be 'cured,' right?"
"Incredible. Is that even possible? I’m starting to think his traditional Chinese medicine skills might not be all talk. Even if the patients weren't actually cured, they wouldn't dare say otherwise!"
"The people here are truly blessed to have a village secretary like him!"
Huang Shengyi watched her phone screen, stunned. The man looked decent enough, but was this really how he practiced medicine? He’d barely touched the boy's arm, and just like that, he was cured? She doubted even her own grandfather could pull that off.
Huang Shengyi shook her head. The world was a strange place; you really do see everything if you live long enough.
"It’s healed?"
The woman’s eyes went wide. When Great-Grandfather used to treat dislocations, he would poke and prod here and there before snapping it back into place. How had this one ended with just a flick of the hand?
She hurriedly looked at her child. "Little Stone, how do you feel? Try moving your arm."She didn't believe Great-Grandfather would brag. If he said he had cured it, then he had cured it. Perhaps in the half year they hadn't seen him, Great-Grandfather's traditional Chinese medicine skills had improved.
Little Stone hurriedly gave it a try. He gingerly moved his dislocated arm, and upon realizing it truly didn't hurt as much anymore, he quickly swung it around. With wide, round eyes, he looked at the woman and said, "Mom! My arm is better!"
Then he turned his gaze toward Lin Xian. "Great-Grandfather, thank you!"
"Hehe, you're welcome."
Lin Xian patted Little Stone on the head before turning back to the woman. "Come by my place tonight to pick up two doses of medicine. He likely still has some bruising on his arm; applying it when you get home will help it heal faster."
"Right, thank you, sir!" the woman said hurriedly.
Liu Ruyan’s eyes widened. It really was healed... She had seen the way Little Stone moved his arm just now; there was absolutely no way that could be faked!
Just moments ago, Little Stone's arm had been hanging limp. If it hadn't been healed, even moving it would have caused excruciating pain, or it might not have been possible to move at all. Children don't know how to lie.
His arm was genuinely better!
The live stream chat screen went blank for a split second, followed by a screen full of question marks.
"Whoa? It’s actually healed? The kid isn't faking it, is he?"
"Definitely not! Damn, didn't you see? He was swinging that arm around. If it weren't truly healed, no one could swing it while it was dislocated."
"It's true. When an arm is dislocated, let alone swinging it, even the slightest movement is excruciatingly painful!"
"Awesome, truly awesome. He actually knows his stuff!"
"This... I’ve been proven wrong. This kid actually knows traditional Chinese medicine!"
"Heh, it's just treating a dislocation; how does that link him to traditional Chinese medicine? What about all those herbal theories and such? Does this kid really know them?"
"Seriously, a bunch of people who have never seen the world. Isn't it just treating a dislocation with a flick of the wrist?"
Huang Shengyi stared with almond-shaped eyes at the little boy on the phone screen, who was smiling with a runny nose. As a descendant of a family of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, she naturally saw things more clearly: Lin Xian hadn't just cured the boy; the results were surprisingly good.
Otherwise, the little boy would never have dared to swing his arm like that. That was at most just a bit of manipulation.
Lin Xian's maneuver just now had actually restored the little boy to a large extent.
The pooled blood had probably been somewhat dispersed.
Huang Shengyi wore a look of shock on her face. Unconvinced as she was, deep down she knew very well that she couldn't pull off what Lin Xian had just done, and neither could her grandfather...
"Could it be that this guy is an expert in treating fractures and sprains or something? Is that why he's so good at it?"
Huang Shengyi muttered to herself.
Right, that must be it.
Otherwise, there is no explanation for why someone so young is so proficient at treating joint dislocations.
If he had been studying this since childhood, it would indeed be possible.
"This... do you really know traditional Chinese medicine?"
Liu Ruyan looked at Lin Xian with a face full of disbelief.
Just how old was Lin Xian anyway?
How could he already be proficient in traditional Chinese medicine techniques?
Besides, wasn't this guy leading the villagers in doing illegal and criminal things?
How did he still have the energy to master traditional Chinese medicine treatments?
Lin Xian smiled and nodded, "I know a little bit—just a hundred million points of it."
Liu Ruyan naturally caught the pun on his words and let out a dry, helpless laugh. "Then can you check my pulse? Why don't you take my pulse?"
Liu Ruyan had always been very curious about the pulse-taking in traditional Chinese medicine, and she had never had her pulse checked in her entire life.
Lin Xian held out his hand. "Come on, then."
Liu Ruyan extended her wrist toward him.
Lin Xian closed his eyes and placed his fingers on Liu Ruyan's arm. He frowned and pondered for a moment.
Seeing Lin Xian frown, Liu Ruyan's heart suddenly skipped a beat. Could it be that she had some kind of illness?
How did that saying go again? You aren't afraid of Western doctors smiling cheerfully, but you dread traditional Chinese medicine practitioners lowering their brows.
Why was Lin Xian frowning out of nowhere? Was he going to pull out a medical textbook to flip through in a moment?
A moment later, Lin Xian opened his eyes and looked at Liu Ruyan. "Your pulse condition clearly indicates kidney yang deficiency!"
"Go to sleep earlier at night, watch less unhealthy stuff, and hurry up and find a boyfriend."
As soon as those words left his mouth, two blushes immediately bloomed across Liu Ruyan's face.
She gave Lin Xian an annoyed sideways glance. Was this something that could be said right here in a livestream?
At the same time, however, she was even more shocked by Lin Xian's mastery of traditional Chinese medicine. The fact that Lin Xian could diagnose that just by taking her pulse was simply too impressive.
The netizens in the livestream instantly found it hilarious when they saw this scene.
"I never expected Sister Ruyan to be that kind of person."
"Tsk tsk tsk, this guy really knows traditional Chinese medicine! He can even take pulses. You can tell from Sister Ruyan's reaction that he nailed it."
"Hahaha, 'watch less unhealthy stuff.' Sauce, please!"
"Speaking of which, can women have a kidney deficiency too?"
"Of course, both men and women can have kidney deficiencies." "Awesome. I just wonder if this guy knows how to treat male kidney deficiency. I have a friend..."
"A 'friend,' right? Sure you do."
Liu Ruyan's beautiful eyes shimmered as she looked at Lin Xian. "Are there any other activities tonight? If not, I won't bother streaming."
Hearing this, Lin Xian pondered for a moment. "There shouldn't be any tonight, but there will be tomorrow."
"There should be two activities."
Liu Ruyan's eyes instantly lit up. If there were no activities tonight, it meant Lin Xian would be returning to his room earlier, and there was a wiretap over there.
Perhaps she could find some evidence against Lin Xian.
"Can you give us a hint about tomorrow's activities?"
Liu Ruyan blinked, managing both her livestream and Lin Xian at the same time.
Giving a preview in advance would also help drum up some hype.
Lin Xian smiled. "Even though every household in Linjiacun Village has savings now, none of them can bear to buy a car."
"Tomorrow morning... I'm planning to have every household in Linjiacun Village buy a luxury car, at least of the BBA tier."
Hearing this, Liu Ruyan was completely dumbfounded. Every single household driving a luxury car of the BBA tier?
Even the entry-level ones would cost at least two hundred thousand to get on the road, wouldn't they?
Wasn't this guy talking big?
"Every household driving a BBAs? If he can really pull that off, I'll go to Linjiacun Village right now and become a permanent resident there."
"Heh, he's just bragging, right? Even an entry-level BBA costs two hundred thousand. Sure, he made three hundred thousand in an afternoon just now, but a trick like that can only be used once!"
"Seriously, if every household can really afford a BBA, I will literally eat three tons of shit."
Liu Ruyan looked at Lin Xian. "What about the second activity?"
"The second activity," Lin Xian said with a mysterious smile, "cross-border e-commerce, selling some antiques to foreigners."
