I put on an act, appearing as though I would risk everything for a friend. I sneaked around, glancing here and there. The Crown Prince had seen me like this before. He knew at a glance that I was up to no good—and that I had a plan—so he crouched down quickly. I whispered to him that we had high-yield crop seeds back home. Not rice or grain, but other types of highly productive produce. We also had pigs—they bred in large numbers and grew rapidly. In just over a year, they could reach four or five hundred pounds. Though not as large as cattle, their rapid growth and prolific breeding made them our primary source of meat, accompanied by a specific feed. However, these resources were controlled by a group of old fogies. Even we could eat and use them, but we weren't allowed to distribute them externally. Still, I knew these old men had a weakness. Aside from being forced to cough up goods if someone could outshine them in music, chess, calligraphy, or painting, they had a soft spot for beautiful, haughty women—especially those with significant status.
