Hearing this, Fangsheng's expression tightened slightly, but he immediately relaxed again and asked in Chinese, "Can you sense what kind of formation this is?"
Lewan shook her head, furrowing her pretty brows with frustration as she replied, "I can't sense it. But this magic circle is very strange. It's clearly drawn using Aether Mana, yet it is tainted with the power of faith."
Magic and prayer both existed in this world, but they were different. Magic drew upon the Aether Mana present in the world or other mediums, whereas prayer was somewhat idealistic, channeled through one's own faith.
Recalling the data about this world, a trace of gloom flashed across Fangsheng's mind. He then approached the cat-eared girl, putting on a curious expression as he asked, "What are these patterns drawn on the wall...?" As he spoke, his right hand behind his back made a hand gesture, signaling constant vigilance and readiness to bolt.
Before he could finish speaking, a strangely accented voice rang out: "Oh! My dear Spirit gentleman, please forgive me for failing to greet you properly." The mansion's front door swung open, and a man dressed in a black suit walked out.
Looking at the man's attire, Fangsheng's eyes were filled with disbelief. What happened to the medieval world promised in the data?! How could there be a suit!
Seemingly very pleased with Fangsheng's astonishment, the man said in a peculiar accent, "Respected Spirit gentleman, please do not be surprised. This is the prevailing fashion in the Luke Kingdom."
Soon, Fangsheng accepted reality. He looked at the man and asked, "May I ask who you are?"
The man immediately put on a flattered expression and said with heavy exaggeration, "Oh! My respected Spirit gentleman, I am merely the Administrator of this small town; I am not worthy of your honorifics."
Listening to their exchange from the side, Lewan felt her toes curl inside her shoes in embarrassment. The man's dramatic way of speaking triggered her second-hand embarrassment.
"Oh~ This must be Miss Witch who serves Lord Spirit! Truly, she is exceptionally beautiful!"
Lewan managed an awkward yet polite smile and forced a reply, "Thank you for the compliment."
Ugh~ What a bizarre accent. Oh gods, save me. Lewan cried out silently in her heart; she was truly terrible at dealing with people like this!
At that moment, Fangsheng stepped forward and said to the man, "Administrator, you didn't invite us here just to chat idly, did you?"
The man nodded dramatically: "Of course. Please, follow me into the manor." Then, turning very serious, he corrected himself again: "Respected Spirit gentleman, you do not need to use honorifics with me."
To this, Fangsheng replied directly, "Then please, Administrator, do not call me Spirit gentleman either. Just call me Lord Nameless!"
A look of inner conflict appeared on the Administrator's face. In the end, unable to win against Fangsheng, he nodded in agreement, though he held onto one insistence of his own—addressing Fangsheng as Lord Nameless.
In the end, the two of them each took a step back.
Fangsheng breathed a sigh of relief inwardly. Truth be told, he couldn't handle the Administrator's exaggerated titles either; they were just too awkward!
Upon entering the mansion's main hall and taking their seats, the Administrator looked with a smile at the cat-eared girl waiting nearby and said, "My dear Rosa, would you be so kind as to go tidy up my bedroom?"
The cat-eared girl nodded eagerly, a hint of fanaticism in her expression: "Of course! My master!"
Watching their interaction, Fangsheng felt a chill run down his spine. The fanatical look on Rosa the cat-eared girl's face gave him an ominous feeling.
After the cat-eared girl left, the Administrator looked at Fangsheng with a beaming smile and softly asked, "Lord Nameless, are you very interested in Miss Rosa?"
Fangsheng shook his head hastily, terrified that a single nod would prompt this eccentric Administrator to gift Rosa to him!
The Administrator nodded slightly, then looked over at Lewan, who was gazing around, and asked genially, "I wonder what catches Miss Witch's eye? If anything truly catches your fancy, please feel free to take anything in my estate!"
This meant he had a favor to ask of them, Fangsheng thought to himself, and immediately spoke up: "Administrator, if you have something to say, spit it out. My witch and I need to return to the Radiant Church at top speed!"
Lewan was naturally no fool. Hearing Fangsheng finish, she immediately clasped her hands together in front of her chest with her fingers intertwined, and said with great piety, "The Goddess of Radiance awaits the return of Her Spirit within Her courtyard!"
Fangsheng looked with astonishment at the scenery beside him. Soft sunlight quietly filtered through the stained-glass windows, gently casting a warm glow over Lewan—who had assumed a posture of prayer—just like the Goddess of Radiance Herself.
The kind and warm smile on Lewan's face felt like a spring breeze, and the filtered light made the Radiant Church's unique insignia on her robe gleam brilliantly, making her whole body seem to shine, coupled with that faint, maternal radiance.
At that very moment, Lewan looked so sacred that no one would dare question her if she were called a saintess of the Radiant Church!
Astonished, Fangsheng came to a deeply irreverent conclusion in his mind!
Hm?
Fangsheng's peripheral vision caught a look of disgust on the Administrator's face, but it vanished almost instantly as the Administrator returned to his smiling demeanor.
This flash of disgust disappeared so quickly that it even made Fangsheng wonder if he had seen things, but a Nameless one's keen intuition made him slightly wary of the Administrator.
Beaming with a smile, the Administrator addressed Fangsheng: "Lord Nameless, I can understand the two of you wanting to leave, but..." Here, he deliberately dragged out his tone, waiting until both of them were looking at him before continuing:
"Have the two of you ever considered that someone is watching you, unwilling to let you leave this Land of Radiant Forgetting?" When these words dropped, the atmosphere turned somewhat heavy. Fangsheng's expression grew unsightly as he began frantically rummaging through his memories, trying to find the slightest trace of anomalies.
Soon, he thought of a person—and the frantic warnings his intuition had given him upon meeting that person.
Was it him? But Fangsheng didn't say it aloud; he was afraid the Administrator before him was just trying to bluff them.
The Administrator's smile remained unchanged, and he said candidly, "I believe Lord Nameless already has a candidate in mind, it's just that Lord Nameless doesn't quite trust me." With that, he put on a tearful expression, sending a chill right through Fangsheng.
However, the Administrator quickly readjusted his expression, grinned broadly, and said, "But has Lord Nameless ever wondered why Mosi, who clearly already had the urge to flee, suddenly flew into a rage and attacked?" Having said that, his expression changed once more as he looked expectantly at the two of them, waiting for their question.
But Fangsheng refused to grant his wish, watching calmly as the Administrator's eager expression turned anxious.
Finally, the Administrator slumped back into his chair and said listlessly, "Fine, I admit it. Lord Nameless, you win!"
Fangsheng shrugged with an air of indifference: "You really didn't have to tell me."
Hearing this, the Administrator instantly bounded out of his chair, fixed his eyes firmly on Fangsheng, raised his voice a notch, and cried out in a somewhat uncomposed manner: "That won't do! Lord Nameless, you are immensely important; I care about you deeply!"
As soon as those words came out, the two of them were startled, especially Lewan, who had been silent the whole time. She looked at the Administrator in shock, admitting to herself that while Fangsheng was somewhat handsome, he wasn't attractive enough to directly turn this Administrator gay!
"Administrator, please have some self-respect. I don't swing that way!" Fangsheng said sternly.
The Administrator was stunned for a moment, then readjusted his emotions, reverted to his previous demeanor, and replied calmly, "Lord Nameless, I don't swing that way either. It's simply because you are very important to us!"
