Lewan frowned, acutely picking up on the word "we" in the Administrator's speech, the magic circle inscribed upon the bluestone bricks, and his deep concern for Lord Nameless, despite not being a follower of the Goddess of Radiance.
Fusing these elements together, she felt she had deduced the identity of the Administrator and the "we" standing behind him, but the moment she tried to pinpoint it, a shroud of mist seemed to block her thoughts.
Magic? Confusion filled Lewan's heart.
Yet since it was magic, well, then it could be resolved with a prayer.
O merciful Goddess of Radiance! Please forgive your foolish believ—the prayer was left unfinished because Lewan realized something: if she used a prayer to break the other's magic, the caster would undoubtedly sense that their magic had been dispelled.
And upon discovering that, the caster would likely flip the table in rage... Lewan cast a sideways glance at the Administrator, ultimately deciding to wait until she left the mansion and discussed it thoroughly with Fangsheng before making any further plans.
Turning her attention back to the conversation between the two, the Administrator took the initiative to speak: "The reason Morse intended to harm Lord Nameless even after the thought of fleeing arose in him was because he was bewitched by that Cultist!"
Was bewitching an ordinary person to assassinate oneself of any use? Soon, however, Fangsheng connected the dots and asked, "So, he was testing me?"
The Administrator chuckled and nodded: "That Cultist is extremely cautious; during his first encounter with the two of you, he did not strike rashly."
He paused, as if channeling an ability, and began to recount in a bizarre tone: "During his first encounter with the two of you, he recognized your identities. To demons, the brave and fearless heroic souls of Lord Nameless are both exquisite delicacies and top-tier materials for a breakthrough.
And the noble and pure Lady Witch—they serve only two people in their entire lives. How could demons and devils not be tempted by such a pure soul?
To him, the two of you are incomparably precious materials!"
Having finished this long speech, an unnatural flush appeared on the Administrator's face. Disregarding his appearance, he panted heavily, like a pure maiden reaching the shores of the soul for the very first time.
This time, Fangsheng did not interrupt the Administrator's narrative, satisfying his desire for performance.
When the Administrator finally caught his breath, he made a show of straightening his suit and continued: "However, the Cultist knew the great reputation of Lord Nameless and was terrified that this Lord Nameless possessed the ability to slay him. Therefore, he used the ability of his contracted demon, the Shadow Fiend, to lie low, watching the two of you from the shadows and waiting for an opportunity!
Soon, he found an opportunity—an opportunity to tear away the disguise of the nameless heroic soul. A weak and humble scoundrel had set his sights on the nameless heroic soul, and audacious as he was, he actually dared to blackmail the nameless heroic soul!
Yet the power of the nameless heroic soul caused the scoundrel to harbor thoughts of fleeing. Naturally, the Cultist could not sit back and watch the scoundrel escape; thus, hatching a plan, he bewitched the scoundrel's mind with wicked dark magic.
Through the scoundrel's actions, he saw clearly that the Lord Nameless before him had just awakened! He had not yet returned to the transcendent realm, whereas he himself had already stepped into Tier 2 through the flesh and blood of those soldiers! In comparison, that nameless heroic soul was nothing more than a mere mortal..."
At this point, the Administrator suddenly coughed, his complexion turning abruptly flushed. Seeing this, Fangsheng gave Lewan a direct signal.
Lewan did not hesitate either. Crossing her hands over her chest, she began to pray: "O merciful Goddess of Radiance! Please bestow your Holy Radiance and heal the lost lamb before you." As her words fell, a gentle, white holy light appeared upon the Administrator.
Surrounded by the holy light, the Administrator felt as though he had arrived at a warm afternoon. A gentle spring breeze caressed his cheeks, and a great mother held him tenderly in her arms, softly soothing his wounds and calming his spirit with a gentle voice.
Soon, the Administrator awoke. After offering a complex expression of gratitude to Lewan, his wariness toward the Radiant Church's healing prayers deepened significantly.
Even he, a Warlock who did not worship the Goddess of Radiance, had almost lost himself in that ultimate tenderness and grown reluctant to leave. If it were an ordinary person...
At this thought, the Administrator shuddered involuntary and stopped himself from thinking further.
Little did he know that Lewan's prayer just now had been tamed with extra ingredients; normal prayers were never like this, nor did they produce such detailed sensations. Everything that had just occurred was simply Lewan using a bit more of the power of faith to construct a gentle dreamland to entrap him, making it easier for her to probe him.
Still, the answer had emerged. A curve played at the corner of Lewan's mouth.
"Since you've recovered, can you continue using that ability? After all, you also want to eradicate this Cultist who contracted the demon, don't you?" Fangsheng said softly.
Just moments ago, Fangsheng had summarized the situation roughly: a Tier 2 Cultist who had contracted a Shadow Fiend had set his sights on himself and Lewan, intending to sacrifice them both to the demons. Judging by his current actions, he was a calm, collected, and ruthless enemy.
As expected of a Level 5 world—they hadn't even left the newbie village yet, and already such an outrageous enemy appeared.
The Administrator nodded and continued his account: "Although he learned that the nameless heroic soul was merely a mortal, he still dared not act rashly. He prepared to perform a blood sacrifice! He would contract his second demon before making a move against the two of them!
With this thought in mind, he returned to his temporary residence and began browsing through books. Finally, looking at a drawing of a sturdy humanoid creature in a book, he decided to contract it.
Since he had decided to contract this demon, let's see what was required to summon it..."
At this point in the narrative, the Administrator finally could not hold on any longer. He slumped back into his chair, and feeling the expectant gazes of the two, he waved a hand feebly to indicate that he truly could not go on any further.
It seemed this ability resembling time-reversal consumed a great deal of energy. Seeing the Administrator looking utterly drained, Fangsheng did not force him further.
"By the way, do you know what kind of demon this person is preparing to contract?" Fangsheng asked aloud. He intended to prescribe the right medicine for the illness; since the man planned to kill specific people to summon this demon, he would simply make sure the summoning failed!
The Administrator nodded, and with a weary expression, he said, "Chained Fiends—devils whose entire bodies are wrapped in barbed chains. They love to torture the living. If that Cultist wants to summon them, he will have to capture a few living people and whip them."
Hearing this, Fangsheng's face turned green. Although the town was not large, it wasn't tiny either, and a fair number of people lived there. The Cultist could easily grab someone at random to summon a Chained Fiend.
Seeing Fangsheng's expression, the Administrator knew what he was thinking and spoke up: "There's no need to worry. That Cultist carries the aura of demons upon him; I believe Lady Witch is surely capable of sensing it?"
