Tall, modern silkworm houses sprang up one after another in the suburbs of Jincheng.
These silkworm houses were equipped with greenhouses and ice rooms, making it possible to raise silkworms year-round. Some of the houses were divided into individual rooms, serving as dedicated zones with different functions such as silkworm egg incubation, mating and egg-laying, the larval stage, the mature stage, and cocooning.
This was the industrialized sericulture model introduced by Xia Huai'an. This initiative would not only significantly increase employment opportunities for Huaxia women but also greatly reduce the manufacturing cost of silk.
