The runes on the wall glowed with a brilliant green light, flickering erratically like a breathing chest as an oppressive, suffocating aura spread through the space. I tightened my grip on my sword, and Zhou Wan readied herself for battle. The stench of decay in the air grew thicker and more nauseating, and I was almost certain this was no ordinary malevolent spirit. "Let's move," I whispered. Rather than waiting passively, it was better to take the initiative. Captain Li was completely terrified and useless; we could only rely on ourselves. Zhou Wan nodded, and we carefully proceeded in the direction Captain Li had indicated, which seemed to lead deeper into this area. As we ventured further, the surrounding environment grew increasingly bizarre. The passage, which had been reasonably wide, gradually narrowed, its walls covered in grotesque runes that gleamed in the green light like ghostly eyes, making one's skin crawl.
