Pushing open the bedroom door, instead of the anticipated breath of home, a faint scent of blood rushed over, mixed with the musky, pungent odor unique to certain spiritual beasts. My heart sank abruptly, and a sense of foreboding welled up in my mind. Wan'er's complexion turned pale in an instant, and she clutched my hand tightly, her fingertips icy cold.
"Not good, something's wrong!" I muttered in a low voice, quickly looking around. The room was in utter disarray; tables and chairs were overturned, some shattered jade bottles and medicinal herbs were scattered across the floor, and a tense atmosphere permeated the air.
"He has been here," Wan'er's voice trembled, "and he might still be nearby."
