Chapter 157

2,467 words12 minutes read

The Zeroing tuning fork of the Pseudo-Gods had ceased its sounding. Dead silence, thick like viscous oil, enshrouded the orbit of the Blue Crystal Star. The gargantuan wreckage of the Mothership drifted in the void. The massive cross-section, forcibly flattened by the sonic waves of the Pseudo-Gods, looked like a cosmic-scale anatomical specimen—smooth, cold, and reflecting the eerie purple chill of the distant Pseudo-God Fleet. The entire wreckage resembled a colossal tombstone. Silence brought no respite. Along the edges of the cleanly sliced cross-section, the layer of temporary barrier initially constructed from the mycelium network was now entirely covered by a thick, writhing, deep-blue substance, pulsing minutely. This substance was no longer the thinly adhered film from before; its texture resembled countless tiny, cold blue snakes intertwined and woven into a heavy armor. Its weighty geometry and shadowed lines cast sinister, distorted patterns across the surface of the wreckage, as though the entire ruin were wrapped in a skin of frozen deep-sea abyss.
