Chapter 10

Originally, when his Bestialization Index reached fifty percent and he occasionally lost control of his sanity, he had already given up on himself and come to Gengdi Planet simply to find a dignified way to die.
He had never dreamed in a million years that he could encounter such a twist of fate.
With a devout expression, Henry placed his right hand over his left chest and gazed up at the sky at a fifty-four-degree angle. "Thank you, Lord Beast God, for your grace."
Such a miracle did not happen to Henry alone. A few other Orcs did not even go to the hospital for checkups to confirm the changes in their Bestialization Index; they simply judged that their Bestialization Index had dropped based on the massive changes in their own bodies.
Nor did all the Orcs who had been "robbed" by Lan Lingdu step forward to loudly proclaim that they had received the blessing of the Beast God.
Therefore, Henry's inexplicable clearing of his Bestialization Index was treated merely as an isolated incident, but it was still enough to catch the hospital's attention. That very day, the hospital director personally stepped in and had Henry transferred to a research base.
Many Orcs who had already undergone full bestialization were locked up there.
At a glance, Henry spotted a fox locked in a cage, its fur sleek and glossy. "Ah! Isn't that the fire fox that underwent public bestialization a few days ago? Why is it still here?"
Hadn't its bestialization entered the Berserk state? How could it still be alive?
The man in the white lab coat accompanying Henry glanced at the fire fox. "We find it strange too. Clearly, its Bestialization Index was completely maxed out, yet somehow, even while berserk, it managed to retain its sanity."
Blunt and outspoken, Henry blurted out, "Isn't that just like me?"
"..." His words caused the man in the white lab coat to furrow his brows in deep thought.
Lan Lingdu teleported directly to the seed district of Farmland Star One. After thoroughly sweeping through the cultivation area of rare medicinal herbs there, she couldn't wait to head out and begin her "hunt."
To be safe, before heading out today, she had deliberately drawn a sallow, sickly makeup look on her face.
In the eyes of outsiders, she now looked like a sallow-faced, frail, and sickly Orc.
If she didn't speak, outsiders wouldn't even be able to tell her gender.
However, no sooner had Lan Lingdu stepped out of the seed district gate than she was bumped into by an Orc completely wrapped in a black cloak.
The collision hit Lan Lingdu right in the chest, and she grew intensely irritated. "Are you blind? In such a rush to get reincarnated?"
The Orc, who had been in a hurry, came to an abrupt halt.
Upon seeing the person's appearance, Lan Lingdu drew in a sharp breath of cold air.
The man had a handsome, pale face and a pair of violet eyes as deep as a secluded pool. His straight, delicate nose outlined a three-dimensional and exquisite facial contour.
His pale face set off his scarlet lips, carrying a strange allure, and his entire demeanor exuded a congenital nobility and aloofness.
Lan Lingdu thought: *What kind of vampire teen idol just stepped out of a manga?*
This guy looked even more sickly than she did. The eerie part was that despite the youth's frail and sickly appearance, he gave Lan Lingdu a remarkably dangerous feeling.
Ever since her strength had skyrocketed, Lan Lingdu's perception of danger had become exceptionally sharp.
She didn't want to provoke inexplicable trouble. *Whatever, I'll just chalk it up to bad luck!*
A wise person knows when to yield, so she turned and walked toward the gate without looking back.
As for the violet-eyed youth left standing in place, he stared at Lan Lingdu's back for a few seconds, his crimson lips curving into a bloody smile. "Found you!"
Lan Lingdu walked fast. It wasn't until she reached a corner, shaking off that feeling of being watched by a poisonous snake, that she stopped and looked back.
Just now, her sickly youth instincts had sensed danger.
As her Wood Element skills continued to develop, Lan Lingdu's increasingly acute perception of vitality allowed her to catch a rich scent of blood emanating from the other person.
Lan Lingdu muttered under her breath, "Could that guy's profession be something like murdering and robbing people?"
Suddenly, a deep, resonant voice came from overhead. "Little female, what are you doing? Gossiping about who murdering and robbing whom?"
This inexplicable voice almost scared Lan Lingdu out of her wits. Without a single thought, she drew the dagger she always carried and accurately thrust it backward.
"Rip!"
To Lan Lingdu's regret, the dagger only managed to tear a hole in the other person's clothes.
"Ouch, ouch... This little female looks quite spicy..." Dongfang Ming flicked the large hole sliced open by the dagger, never expecting that he had merely played a small prank on Lan Lingdu and nearly cost himself his life.
Tsk tsk! This little female had fine features, so pretty and adorable, yet Brother Ye actually looked down on her!
Clutching her dagger tightly, Lan Lingdu kept her eyes fixed firmly on the man who had appeared soundlessly behind her. In the span of just a few seconds, hundreds of ways to kill this guy flashed through her mind.
"Who are you?" Lan Lingdu's body was tightly tensed.
Although this guy looked roguish, he carried the exact same heavy scent of blood as the violet-eyed youth from earlier.
Lan Lingdu frowned. Her luck today was truly terrible; the moment she stepped outside, she ran into someone who looked like a butcher fresh out of a slaughterhouse!
Dongfang Ming seductively tossed his long bangs and spoke with confidence. "Someone to protect you."
The corners of Lan Lingdu's mouth suddenly lifted into a faint, ambiguous smile. "Protect me? Then tell me, who is coming after me?"
"I can't say just yet. Once I rescue the damsel in distress a bit later, you'll find out."
Dongfang Ming had rough, rugged facial features, but his silver eyes were particularly striking. Both in appearance and temperament, he was the polar opposite of the violet-eyed youth she had encountered earlier.
One was refined and handsome; the other was rough and plain.
"Really?" Lan Lingdu's gaze suddenly landed on Dongfang Ming's back. "Too bad the trope of a hero saving a damsel in distress is far too cliché. I... don't like it."
As a professional killer, Dongfang Ming possessed acute five senses. The moment Lan Lingdu's gaze turned ominous, without asking any questions, he flicked his fingertips and sent a blade of wind sweeping toward his back.
However, the moment he saw what was behind him, Dongfang Ming only had time to let out a miserable scream. "What on earth is this..."
Lan Lingdu stood quietly in place, her gaze calm and unruffled as she watched Dongfang Ming being dragged away by vines like a dead dog.
A breeze blew past, and the dandelions by the roadside gently nodded their heads. Fluffs of white down drifted upward, floating far into the distance. Lan Lingdu walked through them, and the wild grass by the roadside, originally only a few inches tall, slowly grew higher, completely concealing the young girl's departing back.
Inside a dilapidated house completely blocked off by bushes, Lan Lingdu stared expressionlessly at Dongfang Ming lying on the ground.
Should she kill him? Or should she kill him?
The moment she decided to make a move on Dongfang Ming, Lan Lingdu had already formed the intent to kill this inexplicably appearing man who carried a heavy aura of blood and murderous intent.
She had no intention of letting this dangerous Orc who approached her with ulterior motives off the hook!
The only reason she had poisoned him unconscious and dragged him to this place was to make it convenient to destroy the corpse and eliminate all traces.
