Chapter 4

Zhao Yinkong said coldly, "The best method is to sever their limbs and leave them here. When we fight the India Team, we won't have any spare strength to protect them."
Ling Dian also said, "That's right. This is the law of war. They aren't our companions yet, and it's impossible for us to spare manpower to protect them. If our teammates die because of this, the loss would outweigh the gain. Besides, if the enemy kills them, those six negative points will cost us 12,000 reward points."
Zhang Jie, Qi Tengyi, and Zhan Lan, representing the ordinary people, did not agree with Zhao Yinkong and Ling Dian.
"Three against two?"
Zheng Zha forced a bitter smile and turned his gaze to the five newcomers.
The lives of these five people now hung entirely on a single thought of his.
If it were the previous horror movie, Zheng Zha wouldn't have hesitated at all. After Zhao Yinkong and Ling Dian made their suggestion, he would have immediately scolded them and rejected the proposal.
However, after the lesson of that last trial, he had to prioritize the team.
Gao Hongliang wore an uneasy expression, tears welled up in Qin Zhuiyu's eyes, and Zhang Heng's face was as pale as paper.
Wen Lie casually sucked on a lollipop. Although he knew what kind of people they were, hearing them talk so casually about abandoning them to death was still quite irritating.
Xiao Honglv pried a broken piece of stone from the wall, swept his gaze across Wen Lie's face, and said indifferently, "If you're afraid of the other team, the five of us can act as bait."
"You can't determine their strength, nor can you determine their attitude. If you don't want to risk yourselves, let the five of us act as bait to test their attitude."
As soon as he said this, Zheng Zha, Zhang Heng, and the others froze, staring blankly at Xiao Honglv.
Xiao Honglv crushed the small stone he had pried off, rolled it between his palms into a ball, and then ground it into powder. Playing with the tiny pebbles, he said, "Instead of waiting here to die, I'd rather choose an exit with only a one-in-ten-thousand chance. You all think so too, right? Being bait gives us a glimmer of survival, but staying here means certain death."
Xiao Honglv's unhurried attitude stunned Zheng Zha and the others. Seeing his demeanor, they couldn't help but think of the deceased Chu Xuan.
Zhang Heng, Gao Hongliang, and Qin Zhuiyu nodded repeatedly, just like drowning men grasping at a straw.
Wen Lie bit down hard, snapping the purple candy in half, and rolled it around in his mouth with his tongue.
Xiao Honglv's performance won the approval of the veteran members. Zheng Zha let out a breath and said, "Fine. The four of you are on a probation period. As for you..." Zheng Zha pointed his right hand at Xiao Honglv, "You are now an official member of the China Team. We will protect your life if we have the spare strength."
Afterward, the group swaggered out of the cell, leaving the bald brute behind.
Wen Lie didn't mention the penalty points. Given Zheng Zha's personality, if 2,000 reward points hadn't been deducted first, his initiative in engaging the India Team wouldn't be very high.
Wen Lie had been very quiet all along, placing himself in the position of an onlooker, just like watching a live-action series of *The Infinite Terror*.
Come to think of it, *The Infinite World* was too disappointing; he didn't even want to watch past the first episode, though he heard there was a second season.
The gazes of Xiao Honglv, Zhao Yinkong, and Ling Dian swept over Wen Lie from time to time, but Wen Lie didn't pay attention.
The plot progressed almost identically to the original timeline. O'Connell was almost hanged, but fortunately, Ling Dian acted in the nick of time, shooting the rope holding him. After O'Connell left the prison alive, the members of the China Team followed closely behind.
Then Xiao Honglv revealed his ability to observe death aura, showing off brilliantly in front of everyone.
Wen Lie's internal evaluation of it was that it was utterly useless, far inferior to Zhu Wen, who could even see the plane's will. In the original novel, it rarely played any significant role, much like Xiao Honglv's earth-shattering intellect.
Zheng Zha and the others also revealed their reinforced attributes.
Zheng Zha: C-class Internal Force, C-class Blood Clan, C-class magic Blood Flame, D-class storage Spatial Ring. Zhan Lan: D-class magic Haste, D-class magic Mantra: Endurance. Zhao Yinkong: DD-class dagger Fang of Nether Fire. Ling Dian: Gauss Sniper Rifle, C-class attribute Druid Falcon Eye Fixation. Zhang Jie: Fire support. Qi Tengyi: Archaeologist.
Their reinforcements were still in the initial stages, no different from the original story. It seemed he hadn't entered too late.
Wen Lie thought this, partly for the team's consideration and partly for the fun of it.
The China Team's reinforcement builds were all quite absurd. Aside from bug-like powers like the Elven Wind Archer, Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, and the Power of Belief, their stat combinations could generally be described as: there is no worst, only worse.
When we get back to God's Dimension, I'll replace all of them! I'll swap them for something more interesting.
"We've walked close to five kilometers by now, haven't we?"
Estimating that they were already nearly five kilometers away from the prison, Wen Lie suddenly spoke up. "When points are deducted, does God give any kind of prompt?"
Hearing Wen Lie's words, everyone looked at him strangely.
Wen Lie was still holding the plastic stick of the lollipop in his mouth, though the candy itself had long since been crunched and eaten.
Zheng Zha asked in confusion, "What do you mean? Are you asking..."
"Team member killed: 1. China Team total score: -1 points. Current reward points: -2,000. At the end of the horror movie, anyone with negative reward points will be directly obliterated..."
Before Zheng Zha could finish speaking, God's voice resounded in everyone's minds.
Zheng Zha and the others all wore stunned expressions. Wen Lie chewed on the plastic stick and mumbled vaguely, "That's what I mean. Every time a team member is killed, it counts as minus one point. The wristwatch didn't say the points are only deducted if they're killed by the India Team—at best, the enemy just doesn't get the score."
Zhang Jie asked angrily, "Why didn't you say so earlier? What's the use of saying it now?"
"You guys moved so fast, I couldn't possibly make you set off carrying a human torso, could I? Besides, if I had said it back then, it would have looked like I was just making up lies to save my own skin."
Wen Lie shrugged his shoulders, spat out the plastic stick, and briefly expressed his dissatisfaction.
Everyone's mood turned heavy, save for Wen Lie.
They hadn't even encountered the India Team yet, and they had already lost a point. Moreover, this mission from God didn't offer any reward points; if they didn't kill a member of the India Team, most of them would be obliterated by God.
Zheng Zha forced a bitter smile and said, "I was just thinking a moment ago about how to avoid a fight with the India Team. I never expected that I'd have to figure out how to kill a member of the India Team so soon."
This was precisely why Wen Lie hadn't reminded Zheng Zha.
Zheng Zha was still holding onto a shred of wishful thinking. He had grown, but not fully.
If he didn't prepare himself to completely wipe out the India Team, what would he use to counterattack the Devil Team in *Resident Evil 2*?
Although *Resident Evil 2* allowed for clever shortcuts to avoid fighting the Devil Team and directly complete the mission to return to God's Dimension, those evolved zombies still required a certain level of strength to handle.
