Chapter 10

In fact, the Red Queen breached the spaceship's control system in just over ten seconds.
Xia Ren put on his holographic glasses, and a series of monitoring feeds appeared before his eyes.
How many Xenomorphs were hidden in the blind spots of the surveillance was anyone's guess, but the number of Xenomorphs appearing on the video alone reached a full forty-eight.
He walked slowly down the spaceship's corridor, silently keeping an eye on Zheng Zha's team.
The power of double-A-rank psychokinesis was unfathomable, and one could only assume that Zhang Jie had kept his mental power scan active the entire time, observing everything happening inside the spaceship.
What exact limitations his role as a guide imposed upon him remained unknown as well.
Xia Ren quickly opened a room door, did a quick sweep, left, and entered the next room, until he reached the area where the escape pods were located.
There was residual blood on the ground, most likely left by the female protagonist.
Two Xenomorphs were stationed at a corner, preparing for an ambush, but the surveillance feed had spotted them long ago.
Spreading his arms, he materialized two heavy machine guns in his hands.
Roar!!
Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat!!!!
The Xenomorphs' surprise attack didn't sink their teeth into human flesh; their wide-open mouths were met with nothing but a mouthful of bullets.
The outpouring barrage of fire tore the two beasts to shreds.
"Red Queen, activate the escape pods and put them on standby."
After working with the Red Queen to configure the escape pods, he prepared to return to the team.
......
Meanwhile.
"Solving difficult problems under any circumstances, and absolutely never dying under any circumstances! This! This is evolution after unlocking the genetic lock!"
Xuan ran as he spoke, his genetic lock theory bringing a tremendous shock to the other team members.
Especially Zheng Zha, who seemed to recall that scene in the laser tunnel back during Resident Evil 1.
Suddenly, Zero's heart skipped a beat, and he whispered, "There's the smell of blood. Thirty meters ahead on the left. Who wants to go take a look?"
Zheng Zha didn't hesitate to step forward, saying, "My reinforcement level is the highest. I'll go. You guys stay here and keep watch."
Then, gritting his teeth to suppress the fear in his heart, he moved slowly forward.
The source of the bloody smell was the three punks from earlier, who had now been eaten down to three bowls of leftover scraps.
Upon witnessing this unrighteous behavior of wasting food, Zheng Zha vomited uncontrollably.
As a result, that brute Wang was actually squatting next to the corpses, poking around with professional detachment: "We're missing the meat from two people..."
Hearing those words, Cheng Lan and the others retched even more violently.
Suddenly, Zero and Wang slammed themselves flat onto the ground, as if sensing something.
"Danger!"
Driven by instinct, the group instinctively looked back, only to see a huge adult Xenomorph appear right behind Li Xiaoyi, who was standing at the very end of the line!
Its massive black head was dripping saliva, looking utterly ravenous at the sight of a heavenly delicacy.
Heaven knows how appetizing this guy Li Xiaoyi actually smelled to make a Xenomorph drool like that.
Zheng Zha shouted frantically, "Xiaoyi! Run!"
"Huh?"
Li Xiaoyi had just been leaning against the wall, throwing up until his legs went weak. Hearing the shout, he was stunned for a split second.
But the excruciating pain that followed immediately woke him up.
A bone spur pierced through Li Xiaoyi's right shoulder, and the barbs on the spur dragged him backward.
"No! Brother Zheng, Brother Jie! Save me! Save—"
He grabbed frantically at the corner of the wall, but his strength was still too small compared to the Xenomorph. In a couple of tugs, he was dragged away and disappeared around the corner of the corridor.
Zheng Zha, who had been vomiting stomach acid on the ground, turned crimson-eyed, let out a furious roar, and charged forward.
Then, having run past the wall, he was greeted by a scene he would never forget—a group of exquisite little Xenomorph sisters enjoying their afternoon tea.
"Run! Run! There are five Xenomorphs!"
A strength from unknown origins pulled Zheng Zha out of his panic, and he quickly hurled the grenade in his hand.
Immediately afterward, Zero, Wang, and Xuan also threw grenades to provide cover for Zheng Zha.
"Run!"
The speed of the enhanced Xenomorphs was even faster than the original three, and almost in the blink of an eye, they lunged behind Zheng Zha.
Just as the massive black jaws were about to sink into Zheng Zha's body—
"Ah!!!"
With an explosive roar, he unlocked his genes.
The others, running for their lives at full speed, couldn't see the moment Zheng Zha unlocked his genetic lock; they could only focus on running blindly ahead.
Barely making it to the corner of the corridor, they spotted a familiar figure.
"Yo~~ What a coincidence, you guys are here too." Xia Ren, who had been waiting for a long time, greeted the sprinting China Team members with a smile.
Seeing him, the group was somewhat surprised, but didn't slow down their pace by even a fraction.
Only Cheng Lan was kind-hearted; even though she was trailing at the very back of the group and about to be caught by the Xenomorphs, she still mustered a shred of energy to scream at him:
"Run!"
"Whoa! So many Xenomorphs! I searched for ages and couldn't find any, and yet you guys have five right here!"
With that, he spread his arms, and two machine guns materialized out of thin air, grasped in his hands on the left and right.
Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat~~~~~~~
Blazing tongues of fire erupted from the barrels, mercilessly showering against the Xenomorphs' tough carapaces.
A single round of the dense barrage turned the five Xenomorphs into sieves, scattering them across the ground as shattered pieces.
Only Zheng Zha, who had just unlocked his genes, was left riddled with wounds, drenched in blood, and convulsing uncontrollably on the ground.
Xuan and the others had already stopped in their tracks the moment he pulled out the machine guns. Especially Wang, who watched this guy act like a superhero, holding two heavy machine guns and laying down ferocious suppressing fire.
"Killed one Xenomorph, earned 500 reward points."
"Killed one Xenomorph, earned 500 reward points."
......
The notification flashed continuously five times. Xia Ren lowered the overheated machine guns, turned his head to look at the group, and asked with feigned curiosity, "What were you guys running from? These are treasures worth 500 reward points each! Could it be that you guys don't like money?"
