Chapter 5

1,024 words5 minutes read

With only one thousand points remaining, Xia Ren planned to spend them on the Red Queen.
When he had returned to the Hive earlier, he had moved the mainframe housing the Red Queen into the God's Dimension, along with a huge pile of equipment whose functions he had no idea about.
Unfortunately, it was useless.
He was not a professional and couldn't operate the complex Red Queen; he would just have to wait for researchers...
"Wait, researchers?"
"Lord God, I want to create a human! Give me a Chu Xuan..."
However, it was not successful.
"Due to your lack of relevant scientific research knowledge, this character cannot be created."
"Query scientific research knowledge, artificial intelligence, computer hardware related, preferably from the *Resident Evil* world."
Primary artificial intelligence knowledge infusion, from *Resident Evil*. Cost: 300 reward points.
Primary computer hardware knowledge infusion, from *Resident Evil*. Cost: 200 reward points.
Intermediate...
"Primary knowledge, enhance me!"
Buzz~~~
Consuming five hundred bucks, Xia Ren's eyes gradually cleared. The equipment that had previously looked like a black blur now made sense, and he knew their functions.
The Red Queen herself was software.
The so-called motherboards that appeared in many fanfictions were merely the carriers holding her; storage was a more appropriate term.
As for those massive pieces of equipment, they were CPU arrays responsible for calculation.
Understanding everything, Xia Ren immediately returned to his room and reassembled the entire set of equipment, purchasing any missing parts from the Lord God.
Soon, he successfully rebooted the Red Queen.
Whoosh~~~ The figure of a little girl appeared.
"It's you! What is this place?"
Xia Ren couldn't be bothered to waste words with her; he went right to work with his hands, modifying the Red Queen into his own shape.
"Master!"
"Yoshi!"
Having successfully completed the task, Xia Ren felt a great sense of achievement.
The Red Queen's intelligence was quite high, and the next world was very likely *Alien*.
Therefore, he needed the Red Queen to help hack the spaceship's control system.
With Chu Xuan around, why bother doing something redundant?
No, would anyone actually want to be teammates with Chu Xuan? Especially with Xia Ren having cheats, why would he live such a miserable life when he could just avoid getting mixed up with that kind of person?
The final step was to find a more portable carrier for the Red Queen.
"Lord God. Query artificial intelligence, portable computer..."
550W, from...
Jarvis, from...
Skynet...
"Start with the cheapest one!"
Xiaobawang learning machine...
Savior...
...
Portable quantum computer, providing 100 exaFLOPS of computing power, from pan-science fiction..., value: Grade B side quest, 10,000 reward points.
"..."
Xia Ren dejectedly cut off his connection with the Lord God.
Even the cheapest portable equipment required a Grade B side quest and over 10,000 reward points; he couldn't afford it at all.
Judging by this, the Red Queen's capabilities were much stronger than he had imagined, worth at least a Grade B side quest.
...
Just as he was worrying about a carrier for the Red Queen, a scream erupted from Zheng Zha's room.
"What the fuck?! Why is it so huge?!"
Staring at Luo Li in a breakdown, he was on the verge of unlocking his genetic lock.
The real Luo Li off to the side had long since been scared into hiding in the bed, burying her head under the covers.
The fake Luo Li, tears welling in her eyes, asked in a dainty, spoiled tone:
"Brother Zheng! Could it be that just because I became a man, you no longer love me?"
"Help! Help me!!!"
Running out of his room in a wild dash, he hammered frantically on Xia Ren's door.
"Hey you surnamed Xia! Open the door for me! If you have the guts to play me for a fool, you have the guts to open the door! I'm going to slaughter you!!!"
"Pfft hahahahaha~~~"
Unable to keep a straight face despite trying his hardest, Xia Ren collapsed onto the floor and laughed hysterically.
Even through the wall, he could feel Zheng Zha's despair.
After having a good laugh, he opened the door with a deadpan expression.
"What are you howling about for no reason?"
"You still have the nerve to ask?! Why is Luo Li a guy?! Are you toxic?!"
"When did I ever say she was a girl? You're the one who jumped to conclusions."
"Fuck your grandpa! You deliberately set me up!"
"Pfft hahahahaha~~~~"
Xia Ren simply couldn't keep it together anymore; he slammed the door shut with a loud *clack* and continued roaring with laughter.
At this laugh, Zheng Zha was completely dumbfounded.
He was laughing his head off, right? He was just laughing his head off, right? I saw the whole thing!
"Open the door, you son of a bitch, open the door!"
"..."
Stepping out to study the Lord God, Zhan Lan saw this scene and a question mark floated over her head.
Could it be that that bastard Xia Ren had set Zheng Zha up again?
Hissss~~~ How come this guy always locked onto the same person to trick?
She stepped forward to ask: "Zheng Zha. What's wrong with you? What did Xia Ren do this time?"
"I..."
Zheng Zha's face turned green, and he stammered without blurting it out.
He really didn't want to speak of such things to outsiders.
*Click~~~*
The door opened again.
Seeing that Zheng Zha actually wasn't howling anymore, Xia Ren was puzzled, but upon seeing Zhan Lan, he understood.
Glaring fiercely at him, Zheng Zha spat out two words through his teeth.
"Confidential."
Xia Ren smiled faintly and held up five fingers.
"Five times."
Zheng Zha gritted his teeth: "Fine! I'll give it to you after the next mission!"
This scene filled Zhan Lan with doubt.
But having finally caught Xia Ren, she wanted to persuade him toward unity and cooperation.
Xia Ren, however, spoke first, cutting her off.
"Call Li Xiaoyi and Zhang Jie out. I have something to say."
"Huh?? Oh, okay."
Zhan Lan hurried off to get them.
The two men cursed and swore as they came out, fixing hostile glares on Xia Ren.
