As soon as Alvano walked into the room, he saw Fusheng hunched over the table, personally wrapping a bouquet of roses. It was the same variety he had bought for Fusheng at the mall last time—the "Berry-Rose Snow-Lying." The flowers were incredibly fresh, their deep red petals glistening, the stems adorned with a few flawless, snow-white leaves. "Shensheng, let me do that." Alvano reached out to take the bouquet, but Fusheng quietly shifted his hands away. He was afraid Fusheng might get pricked by the tiny thorns on the stems. Hearing Alvano’s voice, Fusheng’s first instinct was to hug him, but after a moment’s thought, he kept busying himself with the flowers, pointedly ignoring him. Alvano hadn't kept him company all weekend, after all. He was angry; Alvano had to coax him first before he would hand over the flowers.
