Fusheng was quite pleased with the scar; he stood before the mirror, wearing a ferocious grin that made him look like someone not to be trifled with. Through the reflection, he seemed to see his past self, clad in long robes. That version of him felt so distant that he had almost forgotten what he looked like; today had served to stir those buried memories. He raised a hand to knead his face—it was warm and undeniably real. Fusheng even pulled at his eyelids, smiling as he studied his reflection intently. He was satisfied with this face. He hadn't expected much, but he found the nose and eyes quite agreeable. He leaned in closer, tracing the features of the person in the mirror inch by inch.
