Fusheng did not give up on the remaining half of the book; he continued to flip through it. He wanted to see what other content lay ahead that might further open his eyes. In truth, the contents of this book were already quite conservative. Because the Kris family did not keep female slaves, the book lacked a "code of conduct for female slaves." Among the Zerg, a female slave was entirely the property of a Zerg (male/dominant morph), subject to arbitrary beatings and verbal abuse, and required to kneel in the presence of his lord husband. Female slaves could be bought and sold at will, and there were even official institutions—female slave institutions—dedicated to the trade. If Fusheng had actually seen those, that would truly have been an eye-opener; he surely would have ripped the pages to shreds and chewed them to bits. Fusheng threw the finished book onto the table, slumped back into his chair, and couldn't help but sigh to himself. When it came to feudalism, the Zerg really took the cake; this house manual was simply a "plus version" of the Three Cardinal Guides and Five Constant Virtues.
