As the resentment infused into it, the paper figurine A-Sheng’s eyes blinked weirdly, tendrils of dark red resentment welling up within them.
"Shh, you'll scare Alvano." Fusheng hurriedly covered A-Sheng's eyes to stop him from blinking again.
"Alvano is my little underling, see?" Cradling the paper figurine, Fusheng pointed at Alvano and introduced him to A-Sheng.
Hearing this, Alvano's mouth twitched. What kind of underling had to share a bed and serve him like a muer every day? Fusheng must have lost his mind, talking to himself and treating him like air while cuddling a paper figurine.
Seeing Alvano's expressionless face, Fusheng raised an eyebrow, assuming Alvano was unhappy about being his underling. He had already acknowledged him as his underling, what more could he possibly be unsatisfied with?
"As my very first underling in this world, Alvano, you should feel honored." Fusheng frowned slightly, growing a bit angry, his tone cold.
Thinking Fusheng wanted him to pledge loyalty, Alvano immediately turned serious. Zerg (male/dominant morph)s loved such empty, grandiose words, and he happened to know plenty of them.
"Lord husband, I am honored to become your underling. If you have any commands, please feel free to give them, I will certainly not hesitate even in the face of death." Alvano lowered his head, knelt on one knee, and performed a shoulder-touch salute to Fusheng.
Alvano's demeanor was extremely pious, as if Fusheng were the deity he worshipped.
"What? Are you unhappy? Why aren't you smiling?" Hearing Alvano's words, Fusheng felt quite pleased, but looking at Alvano's serious expression, he was still somewhat dissatisfied—this wasn't the smile he had expected.
"Are you happy or not? Well, smile then." Giving Alvano no chance to speak, Fusheng poked the corners of Alvano's mouth with his finger and kept pressing. "Bigger smile."
He had never seen Alvano smile broadly with joy; it must be because he didn't know how, so he would reluctantly teach him.
"Lord husband, I was just too happy a moment ago, I froze and didn't react in time. I simply can't believe this wonderful news." Saying this with a stiff expression, Alvano prepared to smile as Fusheng had described, but he couldn't guarantee he could pull it off.
He had never laughed with such ungraceful abandon. He knew what kind of smile was the sweetest, most harmless, and most pleasing to a Zerg (male/dominant morph).
Before Alvano could stretch his stiff mouth into a grin, Fusheng stepped barefoot onto Alvano's kneeling thigh and covered his mouth to stop him from smiling, instead giggling incessantly himself.
Fusheng was clearly amused by Alvano's words; this was the most sincere underling he had ever seen, and that was enough—he was very satisfied.
With his mouth suddenly covered by Fusheng, Alvano widened his eyes in surprise, clearly not expecting Fusheng to pull such a stunt.
Sometimes, being Fusheng's secondary spouse was truly helpless, Alvano thought with a hint of resignation.
When Fusheng finished laughing, he let go, and Alvano told him that his muer Vane and Claire would come tomorrow to take him back to the Capital Planet.
Neither Vane nor Claire was Fusheng's biological muer; his biological muer had died in battle when he was still an egg. Vane was his biological muer's sub-Zerg brother, and also his fuer's secondary spouse.
How was this any different from ancient times when two women served the same husband? It was downright feudal, Fusheng frowned and muttered inwardly.
Claire was his fuer's current primary consort. His biological muer had been his fuer's previous primary consort, and after his death in battle, Claire was married in as the new primary consort.
Fusheng's fuer was a promiscuous Zerg (male/dominant morph); Fusheng couldn't even begin to count the number of Zerg (female/non-dominant morph)s he had married—probably around a hundred. Compared to his fuer, it was simply a waste of those beautiful Zerg (female/non-dominant morph)s.
With over a hundred wives, he was practically more extravagant than an emperor from the Qing Dynasty's inner palaces—could he even tell who was who?
Logically speaking, all these hundred-plus Zerg (female/non-dominant morph)s were his muer. Of course, as a Zerg (male/dominant morph), Fusheng could completely ignore them.
His fuer Yichen just loved pretty Zerg (female/non-dominant morph)s, without ever looking in the mirror at what he looked like, fat as a ball.
Thinking of Yichen's plump, fair, and round physique, and imagining him looking like an actual bug, Fusheng couldn't help but be amused, completely forgetting that he himself had now turned into a bug.
Fusheng had zero desire right now to leave Luka Star, nor to leave its two suns. Alvano had said he would take him out to bask in the sun tomorrow; if he had to leave, he was taking both suns with him.
Thinking of Vane's complicated personality and that feudal household, Fusheng wanted to go back even less. Frowning fiercely, he shouted in protest, "Alvano, don't let Vane come, I'm not going back!" With that, Fusheng dove entirely under the covers, kicking his legs to make his resistance unmistakably clear.
Alvano couldn't make the call on this matter, and besides, he actually wanted to return to the Kris family.
Looking at the lump under the covers, he felt a bit puzzled. Fusheng had been raised personally by Vane, and he loved Vane the most. Vane also greatly doted on the little Zerg (male/dominant morph) left behind by his older brother, granting Fusheng whatever he wanted.
Judging by Fusheng's current behavior, he seemed utterly terrified of Vane.
This time, Vane hadn't come along because he had gone to another star system to visit his only child. If he knew Fusheng had run into danger this time, he would definitely be crying with regret for not coming along.
He had to persuade Fusheng to return to the Capital Planet; Alvano couldn't wait to go back, as he still had many things to do.
Thinking of how he had been stripped of his military rank by the Military Department, Alvano clenched his fists, his gaze darkening.
If he hadn't been unable to return to the Military Department, he wouldn't have married into the Kris family. Although marrying into the Kris family was every Zerg (female/non-dominant morph)'s dream, he had no desire to marry any Zerg at all.
Everyone said he had struck it lucky by marrying Fusheng. Bug dung! A hint of coldness flashed in Alvano's eyes as he cursed inwardly, wishing those people the exact same kind of "good luck."
Everyone envied him for marrying a young Zerg (male/dominant morph)—Fusheng had only just come of age, and Alvano would be his very first Zerg (female/non-dominant morph), guaranteeing him a place of his own in the Kris family in the future.
Indeed he had a place of his own: sharing a bed with Fusheng every day meant having a patch of floor to kneel on every day.
He had been here for almost half a month; pheromones were practically non-existent, but daily beatings were never missing.
The Kris family was indeed much more enlightened than other families, unlike Zerg society where a lord husband could beat and scold Zerg (female/non-dominant morph)s at will—which was one of the reasons he had tried every means to come to the Kris family.
The Kris family rules forbade Zerg (male/dominant morph)s from abusing Zerg (female/non-dominant morph)s without reason, but Fusheng clearly hadn't learned those virtues; he always managed to find a reason, and perhaps their status as Zerg (male/dominant morph)s was reason enough.
"Why doesn't lord husband want to go home? Your fuer must miss you too." Alvano figured that even if Fusheng didn't want to see his muer, he couldn't possibly not miss his fuer. After all, he was just a newly adult Zerg (male/dominant morph) cub; when facing trouble, he would naturally yearn for his parents.
Upon hearing this, Fusheng curled up even tighter under the covers, his legs kicking against the hospital bed to make a squeaking sound, showing zero desire to answer his underling.
Alvano's hand, reaching out toward Fusheng, stopped mid-air. He felt a bit annoyed—it seemed his strategy had backfired. Since Fusheng wasn't talking, Alvano couldn't guess what was on his mind.
"Did you tell Vane not to come?" Fusheng asked, his voice muffled from beneath the blanket.
"I sent the message, lord husband." Alvano replied instantly. In truth, he hadn't sent it at all. How could anyone possibly stop Vane from coming to see Fusheng? Vane was probably dying to fly straight to Fusheng's side and hold the Zerg (male/dominant morph) while having a good cry.
He would quietly send a message to Vane right now, though he wouldn't take responsibility for the aftermath—Vane was definitely coming.
His lowered gaze flickered slightly, hoping Vane wouldn't be too heartbroken upon seeing the message.
Hearing Alvano's words, Fusheng finally poked his head out from under the covers, though for some reason, he felt a faint dread at the thought of meeting Vane.
