Hidden beneath the pure facade that purified all defilements in Mount Hakurei lay a passage overflowing with evil aura. The deeper one went underground, the more profound the corruption became. The surrounding stone walls pulsed rhythmically with a mottled, fleshy beat. Yet the two figures walking through it—one tall, one short—seemed completely oblivious. Instead, the man with a fish-bone braided in his black hair was gently whistling. Every now and then the whistling would stop, replaced by silly, bubbling chuckles. His handsome face bore a dark-eyed gaze filled with eager anticipation. Deepest within the direction they were heading, a dark red heart rested quietly on the ground, tightly guarded by a deep purple barrier. Innumerable tentacles extended outward from the heart through the barrier, their tips embedding themselves into the bodies of the trembling demons surrounding it.
