Qin Chen had not gone far beyond the city gates when the environment shifted dramatically. The bustle and noise of the city faded, replaced by the desolate, lonely air of the wilderness. From time to time, the roar of some Fierce Beast echoed in the distance, a reminder of the dangers lurking in the wild.
Qin Chen looked up at the other Awakeners passing by. When they saw him still wearing his school uniform, they cast him surprised glances. It was rare for a student to venture out into the wilderness to hunt Fierce Beasts. However, those who frequented the wild were mature and level-headed. Seeing Qin Chen alone, they merely frowned, said nothing, and headed in other directions to hunt.
Qin Chen ignored their stares and continued along a desolate trail, searching for prey. As he walked, the figures around him grew fewer until he was finally alone.
