If she failed to suppress it, wild, uncontrolled flames would erupt from all around her. To this day, Luna still catches the scent of tar in her midnight dreams. It was a drizzly noon, and the pine staircase of the old mansion was exceptionally slippery in the damp weather. Seven-year-old Luna was hugging a newly sewn rag doll as she climbed the steps, the tip of her embroidered shoe accidentally catching on the lace of her skirt.
