Chapter 79

753 words4 minutes read

In this vast, mysterious world, the existence of gods is like the blazing sun hanging high in the sky, dictating the destiny of all things. Gods do not easily perish; they endure in a posture akin to eternity, and the key factor determining their status and capabilities within the divine realm is the Godhead. The higher the Godhead, the purer the divinity, yet the more susceptible it is to the power of faith. When believers diminish or faith wavers, a deity is demoted. Conversely, if sufficient faith is gained, a lower-tier deity can return to the peak. War among deities is essentially a struggle for Godheads. The victor can devour the Godhead Fragments of the vanquished, but must bear the corresponding karmic backlash. For instance, devouring a war Godhead might plunge one into an eternal lust for slaughter, while devouring a love Godhead might cause one to lose the ability to think rationally.
