Chapter 103: Tracking and Traps
Lin Yu, Zhao Hu, and Su Yao hurried along the winding path on the left as the eerie atmosphere grew increasingly oppressive. The surrounding woods seemed to have been cast under a spell, growing so dense it was suffocating. Branches and leaves crisscrossed like a gigantic and tightly woven green net that completely blocked out the sky, stingily scattering only a few mottled rays of light that formed patches of various shapes on the ground, flickering like will-o'-the-wisps. They walked with extreme caution, every step taken with the utmost care, their vigilant gazes sweeping back and forth like searchlights to monitor their surroundings. Yet those ghostly, bizarre creatures were terribly cunning; like hunters hiding in the dark, they trailed silently behind without making the slightest sound that might give away their presence.
As he walked, an inexplicable sense of unease surged through Zhao Hu like a rising tide. He glanced back from time to time, feeling as though pairs of cold eyes were staring fixedly at them through the gaps in the layers of branches and leaves. "I keep feeling like there are eyes watching us from behind. Could those monsters have caught up?" Zhao Hu lowered his voice, his tone betraying a hint of hard-to-conceal anxiety. His voice seemed swallowed up by the suffocating atmosphere, sounding exceptionally low.
