Early the next morning, Ling Miao woke up quite early, her mind preoccupied with the food she planned to prepare.
After washing up, she opened the door and headed straight to the kitchen to check on the soybeans she had left to soak the night before. The beans had plumped up beautifully, losing their original shriveled appearance and becoming full and hydrated.
As Susan walked into the kitchen, she found Ling Miao examining the beans submerged in the bucket. Hearing the noise at the doorway, Ling Miao turned her head and caught sight of Susan entering.
