The elderly monk who had previously guided Uncle Fang and Fang Yi reappeared. He walked respectfully up to Abbot, whispered with him for a moment, and then Abbot nodded and invited Uncle Fang and Fang Yi into a room.
The room was not large, but it was kept extremely clean and tidy, and the air was filled with a lingering fragrance. A statue of Guanyin was enshrined inside, with offerings of fruit placed on the altar table alongside burning sandalwood. In the two corners on either side of the altar stood a tall round wooden stool, each holding a pot of fresh, emerald-green plants.
