After resting for a moment, the group stood up and continued walking deeper into the Netherworld. Their figures appeared exceptionally resolute under the dim sky. They believed that, relying on each other's strength and deep bonds, they would surely overcome all difficulties, find a way out of the Netherworld, and return to their own world.
They had not gone far when the ground suddenly sank, and a huge pit appeared before them. Billowing thick smoke drifted from the pit, and a pungent smell of sulfur hit their faces. Fierce flames burned along the walls of the pit, and burning rocks tumbled down from time to time, making a crackling sound. This was the Tongue-Ripping Hell, the first of the eighteen layers of the Netherworld.
A group of fierce ghosts with blue faces and tusks rushed out from the thick smoke. Their bodies were distorted, and they held sharp iron pincers as they charged straight at the group. The eyes of these ghosts flashed with a blood-red light, and they let out blood-curdling shrieks from their mouths.
