Chapter 30

1,467 words7 minutes read

Deep within those distant and mysterious mountains, clouds and mist swirled year-round, acting like a barrier deliberately set by nature to guard an unknown secret—an ancient and mysterious ruin. After a long and arduous journey across mountains and ridges, enduring harsh weather, treacherous terrain, and occasional monster attacks, the group finally reached the entrance of the ruins. The moment they stepped inside, a stale and mysterious aura washed over them, instantly pulling them back into the distant past. The surrounding walls were crawling with moss born of the ages, and in the dim light, ancient symbols could be faintly seen carved upon them. Some of these symbols had bizarre shapes, resembling some kind of esoteric script, while others looked like abstract patterns. They were embedded quietly in the walls as if silently telling secrets buried by time, every single incision seeming to hold an untold story. They walked slowly along a narrow and profound passage. The stone slabs beneath their feet had become uneven with age, and every step echoed with a dull thud in the silent space, as if they were holding a silent dialogue with this ancient ruin. Suddenly, without warning, the ground ahead collapsed abruptly, revealing a bottomless black hole. A pungent, rotting stench surged out from the void, making one want to vomit, like foul air emanating from the depths of the underworld.
