"Of course I wouldn't know what your husband does if you didn't tell me. I run a host club, not a detective agency..." Zatoukei muttered under his breath, though his face wore a humble, smiling mask as he bowed and apologized repeatedly.
The rest of the hosts of Takamagahara stood half a step behind Zatoukei, bowing and apologizing along with the manager. Even though Zatoukei was ostensibly the most powerful man in all of Takamagahara, possessing an emperor-like majesty among the hosts, his authority and power meant nothing in front of these distinguished guests. In the eyes of unreasonable patrons, Zatoukei, the Boss of Takamagahara, was nothing more than an aging host who had lost his youth and looks. And since he was a host, tossing money in his face was all it took to subject him to arbitrary humiliation.
In truth, patrons causing a scene in the shop was a common occurrence. Some guests had terrible tolerance for alcohol and poor drinking habits; once drunk, they might strip down to their underwear, pick out a tall-figured host to use as a pole, and put on a grand pole-dancing show for the rest of the patrons. Other guests would use their intoxication as an excuse to play the fool, shouting at the top of their lungs while secretly copping feels from the hosts—touching a chest muscle here, pinching a buttock there—with a precision and force that no truly drunk person could ever muster.
