The Vice Principal sat hunched before the floor-to-ceiling window, drinking beer in silence. He did not interrupt the cheering crowd, knowing they truly needed a bit of heartening news right now; constantly pressing soldiers by harping on how cruel the war was and how slim their hopes were would never win a battle. At the same time, however, the Vice Principal knew very well that it was still far too early to celebrate a true victory. The ghoul crisis was temporarily resolved, but the real catastrophe was still brewing. "Still, this outcome is turning out much better than I expected. At least you, my old friend, survived." The Vice Principal clinked his can against the empty air and took a long gulp of beer. Anjou surviving was a relief to him. Though he felt a slight pang of regret that he hadn't succeeded the old man as the principal of Cassel College, he would have been far more heartbroken had the old man died here. Besides, the geeks and madmen in the Meteorological Bureau hall who knew only how to use their brains and tap at keyboards could never have held back those ghouls or saved this city.
