The next morning, the students of Gryffindor and Ravenclaw were shocked to discover that their house point hourglasses suddenly contained a great deal of grayish-white gemstones. Those gems were dull and lifeless, yet they filled the bottom of the hourglasses.
Their great Headmaster Dumbledore discovered this phenomenon and froze in place. As he walked past the four house hourglasses that morning, a casual glance had shown him those gems. He stood rooted to the spot in disbelief, carefully reaching out to push up his half-moon spectacles.
He seemed somewhat unable to believe what was happening right before his eyes.
