After successfully breaking through the enemy's encirclement, Lin Feng and the others ran frantically without daring to stop for even a moment. They pushed through dense forests and crossed rushing streams until, completely exhausted, they finally stopped to rest in a secluded mountainous woodland.
"Everyone, rest for a moment and recover your strength," Lin Feng said between heavy gasps. Though he was so tired he could barely stand, he forced himself to stay on his feet and check on everyone's condition.
The others collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily as if trying to suck back in all the air they had missed. Liu Yan was more severely injured; her clothes were stained red with blood, and her face was as pale as paper. Lin Feng hurried to her side and carefully began to bandage her wounds.
"Big Brother Lin, I'm fine. Don't worry too much," Liu Yan said weakly. Though she tried hard to put on a brave face, the trembling in her voice betrayed her agony.
Looking at Liu Yan with heartache, Lin Feng said, "It's all my fault for not protecting you well. If I hadn't insisted on fighting for that treasure, you wouldn't have been dragged into such a dangerous situation."
Liu Yan shook her head gently. "Big Brother Lin, this isn't your fault. On the path of martial arts, we are bound to encounter all sorts of challenges and dangers."
Elder Yun walked over at that moment, his face bearing traces of exhaustion and wounds. "This is no time for self-blame. We need to figure out what to do next. Those mysterious figures clearly won't let us go easily, and we must prepare ourselves to deal with them."
After a moment of contemplation, Lin Feng said, "Elder Yun is right. Those mysterious figures are immensely powerful and clearly came prepared. With our current strength, confronting them head-on would be like throwing eggs at a rock. We need to find a safe place to build up our strength before making further plans."
The others nodded in agreement.
After some discussion, the group decided to search for a hidden spot in this mountainous area to hide out. They moved forward cautiously, remaining constantly alert to any movement around them.
Finally, deep within the woods, they discovered a cave. The entrance was concealed by dense vegetation, making it hard to spot without careful observation.
"This place looks pretty good," someone remarked.
After a cautious inspection, Lin Feng said, "Let's go inside and take a look."
Entering the cave, the group found it to be quite spacious and dry. They decided to make camp and recuperate here temporarily.
Lin Feng had Liu Yan lean against the stone wall to rest, then began assigning tasks to the others. "Everyone tend to your wounds first, and then we'll take turns keeping watch."
The group sprang into action.
Over the following days, while cultivating, Lin Feng continuously studied the treasure within his body. Whenever he tried to delve deeper into its secrets, he could sense a powerful and mysterious force. Yet, this power seemed shrouded in a layer of mist, keeping it just out of his reach.
He closed his eyes, focused his mind, and used his heart to sense the fluctuations of that energy. Gradually, he seemed to catch glimpses of blurry images, apparently concerning the origin of the treasure and how to use it.
Meanwhile, Liu Yan was also working hard to heal her injuries. Sitting cross-legged on the ground, she circulated her internal energy to repair her damaged meridians. Although every cycle of internal energy brought a wave of intense pain, she gritted her teeth and persisted.
Several days passed, and everyone's injuries gradually healed while their strength improved.
However, just as they were preparing to leave the cave, they discovered that the entrance was surrounded by a pack of mysterious monster beasts.
These monster beasts were all enormous; some looked like lions but possessed sharp horns, while others resembled pythons with thick, sturdy limbs. Their eyes flashed with ferocious light, and the breath exhaled from their mouths carried a pungent, foul odor.
"What are we going to do?" someone asked in panic, their voice filled with terror.
Lin Feng took a deep breath, forcing himself to stay calm. "Don't be afraid, everyone. We'll figure a way out together. Powerful as these monster beasts are, we aren't completely defenseless."
Elder Yun said, "We mustn't attack blindly. We need to observe their weaknesses first."
The others nodded, staring nervously at the monster beasts blocking the cave entrance.
Lin Feng quietly crept closer to the entrance, carefully observing the creatures' movements. Suddenly, he noticed that one of the monster beasts had an injury on its leg, making its movements slightly sluggish.
"That might be our breakthrough point," Lin Feng whispered.
The group began formulating a battle plan, preparing to fight a desperate battle to the death against the monster beasts...
