What was even more absurd was that when Qiu Jichen stepped out of the car, he saw the colleague he had met that morning climbing out of the driver's seat of the car behind them, hurriedly crossing over to talk to the taxi driver. Qiu Jichen did not speak the language of the Jade Country well, but he could still catch a few simple words. He stood to the side, listening silently for a while, and managed to piece together fragments of their conversation. It seemed that the interpreter’s car had experienced brake failure and had accidentally rear-ended the taxi. Although it wasn't intentional, the interpreter offered to pay for all the damages and give the driver a sum of money, asking if he was willing to settle the matter privately. Upon hearing that money was on the table, the driver’s temper subsided, and he no longer looked quite so vicious. After some back-and-forth, the two finally agreed on a reasonable amount.
