Li Lin looked at the villagers, who were all enthusiastically participating in repairing the houses. Some were nailing wooden boards over cracks in the walls, some were throwing away old, broken mud tiles on the roofs and replacing them with new ones, some were taking off door panels and hammering away at them, and others were opening buckets of tung oil and brushing a coat of it over the repaired areas.
Everyone was full of energy, and no one was slacking off.
Li Lin instructed Liu Ermei, "Mother, boil some porridge later, but use a little less water. Make it thick, as we promised to give them a full meal."
