Chapter 1

In City A, inside the Yuhuang Hotel, Yu Wangyou was in the middle of a mission when a hand with bulging veins suddenly dragged her into a room.
She could only feel how burning hot he was before she lost consciousness.
The next morning, with the sun hanging high in the sky, a man and a woman stared at each other with wide eyes.
Yu Wangyou had never expected that a single slip in vigilance would lead to her innocence being ruined by this bastard. Gritting her teeth, she clenched her fists. Before he could say a word, she threw a punch right at his face, leaving his cheek instantly black and blue.
"You!"
The man was furious, but before his rage could fully register, another fist flew straight into his face.
As the prestigious president of the Gu Group, when had he ever suffered such humiliation? He immediately grabbed both of her hands and pinned them above her head.
He remembered that he had come to the hotel last night to discuss business, but had accidentally drunk a spiked glass of water. After being helped into a room, he had groggily dragged a woman inside to solve his urgent situation. He had not expected her to be so violent, hitting him without even asking questions.
"I let you land two punches, and now you're pushing your luck?"
"So what if I am?" Yu Wangyou was entirely fearless. Having grown up in an orphanage, she had never failed a mission in all these years. Yet she had ended up falling prey to this bastard, this degenerate. The more she thought about it, the angrier she got.
Just then, the door was suddenly flung open, and a crowd of reporters rushed into the room, led by a woman.
Seeing only the man in the room, the woman panicked.
At the sound of the commotion, President Gu had swiftly shoved Yu Wangyou's head under the duvet.
Forced to hide under the covers, Yu Wangyou was fuming, yet she had no choice. After all, if she were photographed in bed with some random man, not only would her friends at the orphanage tease her to death, but it would also make it harder for her to search for her parents in the future.
"President Gu, I heard you brought a woman to the hotel last night..." The woman did not dare finish her sentence, because his gaze looked cold enough to kill.
President Gu—who was actually the eldest young master of the Gu family, Gu Wangci—leisurely buttoned his shirt.
"Do I need to explain myself?" With a single icy sweep of President Gu's gaze, the reporters lowered their heads in unison.
The woman leading the pack composed herself before speaking. "Wangci, I heard you drank too much last night. Are you alright now?"
Gu Wangci curled his lips into a smirk. He stared at her, and though he did not say a word, it sent shivers down her spine.
"Wei Shuyu, is it?"
The woman swallowed hard and nodded slightly.
"I will remember this. Get out!"
The woman dared not linger, but before she left, she still tried to sneak a glance at the suspicious lump next to President Gu on the bed, wondering if her daughter's plan had succeeded.
"Mom! Mom!" Clutching the hem of her skirt, Wei Ziting ran toward her mother, her face pale as a sheet.
Last night, she had planned to drug her beloved Gu Wangci's drink and have someone help him to her room. However, through a twist of fate, another woman had taken her place. She did not know what had gone wrong; everything was supposed to have gone exactly according to plan...
Hearing her daughter's voice, Wei Shuyu knew she was done for. Completely ruined.
Wei Shuyu leaned against the doorframe, trying her best not to collapse.
As Wei Ziting reached her mother and tried to peek inside, the door slammed shut with a loud bang.
Gu Wangci's voice, cold and threatening as the King of Hell demanding a soul, echoed from within: "If you don't want the Wei Family to go bankrupt, get the hell out of here right now!"
Without a second thought, the older woman grabbed her daughter's hand and fled.
Hearing that it was finally quiet outside, Yu Wangyou poked her head out from under the duvet, her face flushed red from the heat.
"An old flame of yours?"
"Come with me." With a cold expression, Gu Wangci grabbed her wrist and pulled her out of bed.
Fifteen minutes later, standing in front of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Yu Wangyou was completely dumbfounded.
"Are you for real?"
"It's a Gu family rule: once you sleep with someone, you take responsibility."
Yu Wangyou shook off his hand, her face dark with annoyance. "I don't need you to take responsibility. I'll just pretend I got bitten by a dog."
"That's fine. I don't mind being the dog."
Yu Wangyou was left speechless, yet she still did not want to just marry herself off like this.
"The Gu family is wealthy and powerful enough to support a useless nobody."
"Useless nobody?! Who are you calling a useless nobody?!" The anger that had just subsided in Yu Wangyou flared up instantly.
"I am."
"..."
Damn it! Tangling with him was like punching a giant ball of cotton—there was absolutely no rebound.
The two of them walked into the Civil Affairs Bureau with stony faces. No matter how the photographer tried to coax them, neither of them would crack a smile.
Ten minutes later, holding their gold-embossed marriage certificates, they sat together in the same car again.
Before making this decision, he had called his assistant and told him to wait at the Civil Affairs Bureau. At first, the assistant had not believed it, but now he was thoroughly convinced.
"Hello, eldest young mistress," the assistant greeted Yu Wangyou politely, flashing a wide, toothy grin.
"Not good."
The assistant scratched his head, thoroughly confused. But catching the cold glare from the president, he did not dare ask any questions.
"Where are we going?" Yu Wangyou was highly adaptable; she had already accepted the fact that she was now married.
"The Gu Family Old Residence."
Gu Wangci closed his eyes to rest, while Yu Wangyou glanced sideways at him. Her heart felt a sudden sense of satisfaction.
*He is actually quite handsome. Guess I didn't lose out after all!*
After a fifteen-minute drive, the car pulled smoothly into the underground garage. The moment Yu Wangyou stepped out, she was stunned!
The place was massive. Pointing at another car in the garage, she asked, "Are these all yours?"
"Yes."
President Gu was a man of few words, leaving the assistant to suffer in silence.
Gu Wangci took her by the wrist and led her into the elevator, which opened directly into the living room of the old residence.
Elder Gu was currently sipping tea, completely unaware of what a massive "surprise" his eldest grandson was about to deliver.
"Grandfather," Gu Wangci called out, standing behind Elder Gu.
Elder Gu, who was just about to bring the teacup to his lips, was startled by the powerful voice. The hot tea splashed over, scalding his lips.
With a sharp yelp, Elder Gu glared at his eldest grandson with an accusing look. "I've told you so many times, don't scare me like that! Your grandfather has a heart condition!"
"You haven't dropped dead from a scare in all these years."
"Cough..." Elder Gu started coughing, thoroughly infuriated by his grandson's retort.
To change the subject, he looked at the girl standing beside his grandson. "What's your name?"
"Why should I tell you?" Yu Wangyou retorted.
Elder Gu coughed again. It was one thing to be angered by his own grandson, but now a strange girl was exasperating him too. How had he ended up so pathetic?
"She is the future mistress of Ciyuan Garden," Gu Wangci announced.
Upon hearing this, Elder Gu's eyes widened. He began to shake all over, looking as if he were having a sudden heart attack.
"Grandfather!"
"Don't call me grandfather! When I told you to get married before, you said you liked men. Now that we've finally accepted it, you suddenly tell me you're married?!" Elder Gu clutched his chest, completely incredulous.
"Believe it or not, the certificates are already signed. Don't pressure me anymore in the future."
"Fine, fine, fine. My grandson is all grown up now. Your wings have hardened, and your grandfather can't control you anymore." Elder Gu looked at the girl beside him again, only to see her calm and composed, showing not a hint of fear. In the past, any girl brought before him would be trembling with anxiety.
"What is your name?" Elder Gu asked again, determined to get an answer.
This time, Yu Wangyou behaved herself. After sweetly calling him "Grandfather," she said, "Yu Wangyou. 'Yu' as in Lady Yu, and 'Wangyou' as in Wangyou Grass."
Elder Gu turned the name over in his mind, feeling that it sounded strangely familiar.
"Good, good. Your parents don't know yet, right?"
"We haven't told them yet."
"Good, then don't tell them for now. This girl is quite exasperating. If your parents knew she was like this, who knows what they'd think."
However, they had not anticipated that the assistant would act first and report later. Immediately after dropping the president and his new wife off at the old residence, the assistant had called President Gu's parents. Upon learning the news, the couple was already rushing back in a mad dash.
The assistant was certainly someone who got things done; he had sold out his president without a single word. Not only did he inform the parents, but he also notified Gu Wangci's two younger brothers and younger sister at the same time.
At this very moment, they too were speeding back to the Gu Family Old Residence.
