Chapter 12

Yu Wangyou was well-fed and well-rested, and was just starting to feel a bit sleepy, but when she suddenly heard a familiar voice, she snapped herself awake at once.
With a lazy expression, she propped her head up with one hand, pointed a finger at Gu Wangci's figure, and slowly uttered a sentence that was quite enough to give Director Hao a heart attack.
Pointing right at Gu Wangci, she drawled lazily, "That's my husband."
"Your husband... Ah! Your husband?!" Director Hao's voice cracked in shock.
Yu Wangyou was already used to his dramatic outbursts, but she still dug into her ear with a finger.
"You're so noisy."
Director Hao, who had suddenly been disliked for being noisy: "..."
When the physical discomfort finally subsided, she stood up, walked over to Gu Wangci, and tilted her small face upward.
From Gu Wangci's angle, he could clearly see the fine down on her face.
"Are you here to take me home?" Feeling suddenly bold, Yu Wangyou threw her arms around his neck, gave a little hop, and wrapped her legs around his lean yet solid waist.
Fearing she would fall, Gu Wangci instinctively caught her in his arms.
Director Hao: "..."
A cold mouthful of dog food, and I just kick the bowl right over!
"Mhm, taking you home."
Gu Wangci gave a slight nod to Director Hao, and then left, supporting his little wife's bottom with both hands.
Yu Wangyou hugged him tightly, burying her entire face in his chest as sleepiness quietly crept up on her.
"Sleepy?"
"Mhm."
"Then let's go home."
The home he spoke of was naturally not the old family estate. Before coming to the police station, he had discovered that Gu Xiaowei and his own mother had followed him, intending to go to the police station to bail Yu Wangyou out.
So he had immediately made a detour to send them back to the old estate before heading to the police station, never expecting to find her sitting there eating instant noodles.
Feeling the warm breath radiating from the woman against his chest, his Adam's apple bobbed.
A sensation known as heat surged into his heart.
Clearly, he had only married her in the beginning out of a sense of responsibility, but how was it that he was starting to lose his grip now?
Where was his proud self-control?
Stuffing the woman into the car, he opened the driver's door and drove toward Ciyuan Garden.
Barely half an hour later, Gu Wangci carried Yu Wangyou out of the car in a bridal style.
At that moment, looking down at the quiet little woman in his arms, there was none of the sharp hostility from their first meeting; she looked like such a peaceful person.
By this time, Goodwife Li had already gone to sleep. Not knowing whether the two masters would return, the entire Ciyuan Garden looked pitch black.
Determined not to wake the woman in his arms, Gu Wangci felt his way up the stairs in the dark, entered his own room, placed her on the bed, and headed straight to the bathroom to take care of his own needs.
When he finally walked out of the bathroom, he found that the little woman who had supposedly fallen asleep long ago was staring right at him with wide open eyes.
He felt inexplicably guilty, then checked his attire to make sure nothing was exposed before walking toward her.
Yet just as he reached the bedside, he was suddenly grabbed tightly, accompanied by her sweet, syrupy voice calling "Husband."
Gu Wangci recalled his mother's words about how a man should maintain some restraint, but... with this woman holding onto him like this, he...
How on earth was he supposed to keep any restraint?!
"Stop moving." His gaze was already stained with desire. At that very moment, he truly wished she would just pass out and fall asleep so he wouldn't have to endure such torture.
The woman clinging to his waist kept wriggling about, and even that peach-like bottom was twisting back and forth. His already depleted self-control completely collapsed at that instant.
He decided not to hold back anymore; they had already registered their marriage anyway, and since she was the one who had started the fire, she deserved to put it out.
With his left hand pinning her hands down, his right hand impatiently began untying the buttons of her shirt, only to find the restless woman wriggling even more enthusiastically.
He even wondered if those instant noodles had expired.
Or perhaps she had been drugged?
"Stop moving!"
*Smack!* Gu Wangci landed a hand right on her bottom.
"Mhm~ you're mean~"
When had Gu Wangci ever heard her make a sound like that? His movements instantly grew faster.
In a flash, Yu Wangyou's upper body was stripped bare of every inch, his scorching hot hands roaming every corner of her.
Until his fingers brushed against something soft, and it suddenly dawned on him that her fertile period had not yet passed. Realizing this was like having a basin of cold water dumped over him, and he instantly deflated.
"Just wait until your fertile period is over, see if I don't..."
Seeming to feel he was ruining the mood, Yu Wangyou took the initiative to wrap her arms around his neck, hanging onto his body like a koala.
Their red lips and thin lips pressed tightly together, parting a moment later to draw out a thin silver thread.
Gu Wangci could only go along with her while fighting to keep his runaway primal urges under control.
Please, let this little goblin fall asleep already; he really couldn't take much more of this!
Just as he was locked in a fierce internal struggle, frantically chanting the "Clear Heart Mantra," Yu Wangyou slipped down from his body onto the bed, though her legs still refused to let go.
Gu Wangci wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. He had no desire to touch her while she was out of it.
Although they had crossed that line once before, it had been under the influence of that drug, so neither of them had been quite sober.
After dressing his little wife back up, he headed straight to the bathroom for a cold shower.
---
Once all the lingering chill had faded from his body, he lifted the covers, slid into bed, and pulled his little wife into his arms.
Yu Wangyou nuzzled deeper into his chest, found a comfortable spot, and continued her grand chess match with the God of Dreams.
The next day.
When Yu Wangyou woke up, it was already broad daylight. She sat up in a daze, pulled back the blanket to check her body, and immediately felt like cursing a blue streak.
"Damn it, is he impotent or something? I pulled out all the stops to seduce him last night, and he still didn't bite?!"
She didn't understand, and she was furious.
She vividly remembered being dragged into the room, and judging by her professional assessment back then, he had definitely been drugged—and there was no denying that drug had been insanely potent.
It had tortured her no matter how tearfully she begged for mercy.
And yet, looking at things now...
"Sigh..." She sighed and shook her head.
She got out of bed. Aside from the familiar warm flow, there was nothing else.
Rubbing her eyes, she stepped out of the bedroom. Goodwife Li had already prepared a meal and was waiting for them to start.
Meanwhile, Gu Wangci was wearing a pair of glasses, reading the morning paper.
"Morning."
Hearing his wife's greeting, Gu Wangci let out a curt "Mhm" and said nothing more.
Because of what happened last night, Yu Wangyou was furious and didn't bother giving him a pleasant expression.
She walked straight past him to the dining table. Goodwife Li kept her eyes lowered and her thoughts to herself, knowing the young couple must have had a falling out.
So she said with a smile, "Squabbles at the head of the bed are made up at the tail. Look, the young master has been waiting for you to eat."
"I didn't ask him to wait." Yu Wangyou ate a steamed bun all by herself, her expression ferocious, as if that bun were Gu Wangci himself.
Hearing this, Gu Wangci suddenly slammed the newspaper shut with a *snap*, radiating an aura that screamed *stay away from me*.
Yet Yu Wangyou, who had always been immune to such cold snaps, couldn't care less.
Gu Wangci sat directly across from her, his eyes frighteningly swollen.
He looked at his little wife with grievance written all over his face, wondering for the *nth* time why he had ever brought this plague into his home.
"Do you remember what happened last night?" Gu Wangci asked very calmly.
"Don't remember."
"Don't remember? Then take a look at my face."
Looking impatient, Yu Wangyou raised her head—only to immediately catch sight of his two panda-like eyes.
The corners of her mouth twitched upward. She mentally reviewed every tragic event of the past twenty-one years, but she still couldn't hold it in.
"Pfft—hahaha... What happened to your eyes? How did you get panda eyes?"
Watching his wife laugh breathlessly, Gu Wangci clenched his jaw in secret.
He said nothing.
Time ticked by second by second, and the entire dining room was suffused with awkwardness.
Yu Wangyou stopped laughing, silently prodding her rice with chopsticks, her eyes darting everywhere out of guilt.
"Well? How are you going to compensate me?"
At the mention of this, Yu Wangyou felt immensely aggrieved. She pouted, her entire face written with displeasure—she would need to be coaxed to be happy again.
"Even so... it might have been my masterpiece, but... I thought I was dreaming, so it was an accidental injury."
Yu Wangyou twiddled her fingers, her voice growing softer and lower. She really hadn't meant to do it.
