Dongzi was dumbfounded upon hearing this, and a second later, he let out a loud shriek. "Ahhhhhhh, Sister You has a man!!" "Bro, what are you talking about? Even a femme fatale like Sister You can find someone?" "What's wrong? A femme fatale—setting aside the femme fatale part, she's gorgeous." Dongzi wore a look of utter adoration. "Tsk tsk tsk, sounds like someone is about to be heartbroken." "Yin Mo, what are you saying? My feelings for Sister You are out of admiration and respect, do you understand?" "Fine, fine, admiration and respect. I really want to see what kind of divine being managed to snap up our Sister You. To think someone could actually marry her." "Why don't we use this chance to fly back home, find Sister You, and see what this guy looks like?" "Yay, yay!" Yin Mo clapped her hands with excitement. Having grown up in Country Y since childhood, she had never been anywhere else.
After hanging up the phone, Yu Wangyou went to the police station where Director Hao worked and bummed a few more cups of instant noodles. "Look at you, always coming over here to eat my food. This junk food has zero nutrition." Director Hao slurped a mouthful of noodles. "Zero nutrition? Then why are you staring at my noodles?" Yu Wangyou pulled her cup of instant noodles closer with a protective, mother-hen attitude. "You said the man who came to pick you up the other day is your husband? How come you never mentioned it to us? He looked pretty handsome, what's his character like?" Director Hao wore a look of pure gossip. "A model youth of modern society, stop asking. Just remember to come to Fuli Hotel tonight to collect my corpse." Hearing this, Director Hao stopped eating his noodles and assumed a fatherly tone: "Are you going back to your old trade? I've told you before, being an assassin is a high-risk profession, it's not for you." "Whether it's for me or not isn't up to me to decide." "Not up to you? Then who is? Is anyone even more wild than you? All day long you're fighting and brawling. Let's set aside the stuff you do out in the open—you've covertly taken out so many people, yet Uncle Hao has never turned you in. Don't go dragging me down with you when things blow up." "Alright, alright. Hearing you say all that, I actually thought you were worried about me. Turns out you're just scared I'll end up in the international lockup." Director Hao's square face stiffened as he prepared to lecture her a couple of times, only to see her stand up and slide a 100-yuan bill under the noodle cup. "I'm heading out. Consider that hundred for the meals I've freeloaded these past few days." Holding the banknote, Director Hao felt a lingering sense of unease. "Be careful out there, and don't cause trouble for me." "Relax! I never cause trouble—the people who cause trouble for me cease to exist." "Ah, if it's a blessing it won't be a disaster, if it's a disaster you can't avoid it." Director Hao could only offer a silent prayer in his heart.
Time flew by, and soon it was eight o'clock in the night. Yu Wangyou went to her secret base, put on her gear, and strapped on a prepped prosthetic face mask. In the mirror, noticeable scars and even burn marks could be seen on that face. She touched the prosthetic mask, let out a sigh, and left immediately for Fuli Hotel. When she appeared at the entrance of Fuli Hotel, she was arm-in-arm with a middle-aged man: Wang Laowu, who had a potbelly and only four or five hairs stubbornly clinging to the top of his head. "President Wang~" Enduring her nausea, Yu Wangyou leaned into Wang Laowu's embrace. Even with the prosthetic face mask on, leaning into this man's arms felt nothing like the warmth of Gu Wangci's embrace. She needed to deal with this scumbag as quickly as possible and then return to Ciyuan Garden. "President Wang~ Let's hurry inside, I want to see what the Liu family heiress looks like." "Alright, whatever my little cutie wants." Wang Laowu broke into a lecherous smile. Yu Wangyou rolled her eyes at him. *Little cutie? Cute your fat, ugly head.* The two of them walked step by step into Fuli Hotel along the red carpet. The reason she chose this venue was because the elderly chairman of the Liu family was hosting a coming-of-age banquet for his granddaughter's eighteenth birthday. With so many guests around, she could finish off this scumbag and slip away in the ensuing chaos. Her face was fake anyway, so no one would pay attention to her. Yet just as she walked in on his arm, she caught sight of a very familiar figure. "Why is he here?" Yu Wangyou muttered to herself. Hearing her low whisper, Wang Laowu leaned in closer, his thick sausage lips nearly brushing against her lips. Yu Wangyou shoved his face away. Her eyes hadn't deceived her: that handsome man in the black suit holding a glass of champagne was indeed her husband. She swallowed hard and quietly released her grip on Wang Laowu's arm. Why did she suddenly feel like a wife who had just caught her husband cheating? Gu Wangci, who was in the middle of toasting someone, suddenly sensed an intense gaze. Looking toward the source of the look, he almost collided head-on with Yu Wangyou. To avoid being discovered, Yu Wangyou grabbed Wang Laowu's bulky frame and hurried forward.Gu Wangci frowned. Why did he keep having the feeling that the woman over there looked so familiar?
He nudged his younger brother, who had accompanied him to the banquet, and gestured toward the woman standing beside Wang Laowu. "Take a look. Does that look like your sister-in-law to you?"
Gu Jiangsu looked over at Wang Laowu, then at the graceful woman by his side. "Big Brother, you must be missing her too much. You’re seeing things. Sister-in-law would never wear something like that—it’s too tacky."
Gu Wangci took another look, and that intuition grew even stronger. "No, I’m not wrong. That is definitely her. It’s just… I have no idea what she’s doing here."
He had heard of Anxin Orphanage. Rumor had it that they trained many assassins there. Combined with what Yu Wangyou had told him about being adopted from an orphanage, it all clicked. So, was Yu Wangyou an assassin? And was that man next to her her target for the night?
The moment Gu Jiangsu heard this, his expression shifted immediately. "If it’s her, we have to go over there right now! That man looks like a total creep. We have to save her from this mess!"
Gu Jiangsu’s inner hero was burning bright. Although he was the second son of the Gu family, he still possessed a childlike heart and firmly believed in the existence of Ultraman. Whenever he brought this up, his big brother, Gu Wangci, would pat him on the shoulder and say, "You silly fool, there’s no Ultraman—only idiots like you."
Seeing his brother suddenly fall into one of his "episodes" and start heading toward Yu Wangyou, Gu Wangci grabbed him by the arm.
"Big Brother?"
"She has her reasons for doing this. Don’t alert the target."
"Big Brother!" Gu Jiangsu’s eyes widened, as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"Do you know about Anxin Orphanage?"
"You mean *that* Anxin Orphanage? Which one?"
Gu Wangci: "..."
It was all his own fault for calling him a silly fool all these years. Now, he’d actually turned into one. "Just don't go bother her. Go home and drink something to boost your brainpower."
"Big Brother, are you saying I’m stupid? Am I stupid? I’m not stupid!"
"Do sick people ever admit they’re ill?"
"..."
Gu Jiangsu wished he could slap himself. Why did he have to provoke him? His brother’s tongue was as sharp as poison.
Midway through the banquet, Yu Wangyou handed a glass of water, which she had spiked, to Wang Laowu. "Here you go, President Wang. Have some water~"
Gu Wangci watched her closely. Although the face wasn't the one he remembered, he couldn't be mistaken about her build—after all, he had held her in his arms just this morning.
Wang Laowu took the glass with one hand, while his other hand began to wander restlessly over her thigh.
Yu Wangyou clenched her fist. She decided that if this bastard went any further, she wouldn't care about making a scene; she would just start swinging.
Gu Wangci felt the same. He was gripping his wine glass, and in an instant, the glass shattered in his hand. Even though he knew she might be on a mission, he was still furious. He sat there, forced to watch his own wife flirting with another man—a man who wasn't even as handsome as he was!
Half an hour later, Yu Wangyou finally helped Wang Laowu into a hotel room, dumped him unceremoniously onto the bed, and walked out.
Now, all that was left was to wait for the drug to take effect. She had put a potent concoction in his drink; if he didn't take the antidote within two hours, he would die in agony, bleeding from every orifice.
As soon as she stepped out, she saw Gu Wangci walking toward her with one hand in his pocket. Her heart hammered against her ribs. This feeling was definitely not good.
"Have we met before?"
"Oh, nowhere, nowhere. How could I have ever met the famous President Gu? You’re joking, sir."
"I never told you my name. Who exactly are you?"
"I’m just a rough person."
Gu Wangci’s gaze was searingly intense. Even though he was certain this was his wife, he couldn't help but ask, "Then why do I feel like your voice is so similar to someone else's?"
"Heh, heh, heh. Many people say that." Yu Wangyou was starting to break into a cold sweat.
Seeing her nervous expression, Gu Wangci stopped teasing her. The two stood in silence, the air thick with awkwardness.
When Gu Wangci finally walked away, Yu Wangyou let out a sigh of relief. Hearing the pained groans coming from the room behind her, she curled her lips into a smile, clapped her hands together, and walked away looking perfectly relaxed.
She felt disgusted by the places that foul man had touched her; she needed to get home and scrub it all off.
