Gu Xiaowei took Yu Wangyou to the hospital, heading straight for the registration desk the moment they arrived.
Since a good friend of her eldest brother worked at this hospital and could help take a look, she went straight to find Han Yiqiu, who was currently slacking off in his office.
"Brother Yiqiu."
"Hmm?"
Thinking it was a nurse coming to see him, Han Yiqiu switched his game screen back to the desktop before turning around, only to find his good friend's younger sister standing there.
"Gu Xiaowei? What brings you here? Are you sick?" Han Yiqiu looked her up and down, left and right, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't see a single thing wrong with her.
"No, it's my sister-in-law..."
"Oh, your sister-in-law... Wait, what?! Your sister-in-law?! When did your older brother get married?"
"Never mind all that, my sister-in-law is in agony, hurry up and help take a look." Gu Xiaowei was on the verge of tears.
Dropping his banter, Han Yiqiu followed Gu Xiaowei to where Yu Wangyou was, but the sight that greeted him left him utterly speechless.
Gu Wangci had arrived at some point, and the moment he got there, his waist had been grabbed in a tight embrace.
"Well, well, brother, you really are blessed in the romance department."
Gu Wangci shot him a look over his shoulder, and Han Yiqiu instantly shut his mouth, though he was still muttering complaints to himself.
"Hurry up and help check on her."
"I'd love to, but the two of them are being all lovey-dovey, wouldn't it be inappropriate for me to interrupt?"
Gu Xiaowei glared at him, then stepped behind Yu Wangyou. Her expression of deep concern made Gu Wangci feel quite gratified.
"Sister-in-law, let go of my big brother for a second and go get a checkup with the doctor. Hurting this badly is definitely not normal."
"No!"
Yu Wangyou hugged Gu Wangci's waist even tighter, refusing to let go in the slightest.
"Just prescribe her some pain relief medication first, we can talk about the rest when we get home." Gu Wangci did his best to soothe her emotions.
Thinking back to when they first met, she had been like a mother wolf fiercely protecting her young, delivering two hard punches straight to him. He never expected she could have such a fragile side.
"Fine." Han Yiqiu shrugged and turned to leave.
When he returned a moment later, he was carrying a bag of medicine.
Gu Wangci took the medicine from him, scooped Yu Wangyou up into his arms with one arm, and called for Gu Xiaowei to leave with them. After placing her in the car, he walked around to the driver's seat and headed home.
He didn't go to the family estate, however; he had dropped his sister off at the old house first, and then he brought her to his own private residence.
Yu Wangyou remained curled up in the backseat.
Upon arriving, Gu Wangci lifted Yu Wangyou into his arms in a bridal carry and took the medicine out with him.
This was the first time he had ever brought a woman to this place.
The housekeeper and the nannies watched as the eldest young master carried a woman inside. They found it quite novel and wanted to ask what was going on, but a single glance from him stopped them in their tracks.
No one dared to step forward again. He carried her into his bedroom, laid her on the bed, and set about preparing her medication.
He had majored in medicine during college; it was only later, when his father gave up on managing the company, that he took on the heavy responsibility of becoming the CEO of Gu Group.
As the servants watched the eldest young master being so attentive to the young mistress, they couldn't help but wonder what kind of person she was and whether she had a good temperament.
While mixing the medicine, Gu Wangci even double-checked the steps on Baidu, fearing he might misremember them. After brewing the medicine, he placed it on a tray and carried it into his room.
"Wake up. Drink this medicine. You'll feel much better once you do, and the pain won't be so bad."
He vaguely remembered that when his younger sister Gu Xiaowei had her period, she would be in excruciating pain, sobbing until she was out of breath. Back then, he had been the one to brew the medicine and coax her for ages before she finally drank it. Sure enough, once she finished it, the pain subsided.
Seeing that she had yet to wake up, he guessed she must have passed out from the pain. He looked at the medicine, then at her lips, which had turned pale from the agony, and made a decision.
He took a mouthful of the medicine, leaned down, and pressed his lips to hers, passing the liquid into her mouth.
He didn't pull away until he was certain, by the movement of her throat, that she had swallowed it.
He licked the residue of the medicine from the corner of his mouth, then took the tray and the cup back downstairs.
Yu Wangyou had been asleep, but in her dream, she felt someone kissing her. She woke up in a panic, her forehead beaded with thick, cold sweat. It was already nighttime.
She climbed out of bed and swayed toward the bathroom, but Gu Wangci happened to be showering inside. She knocked on the door, found it locked, and returned to bed. She rubbed her stomach, feeling that the discomfort had eased.
When Gu Wangci stepped out of the bathroom, he immediately spotted Yu Wangyou sitting on the edge of the bed in a daze.
"Awake?"
"You're done? Did you eat yet?"
"I did."
Yu Wangyou’s eyes widened, as if she couldn't believe it. "Why didn't you wake me up for dinner?"
"You were asleep, weren't you?"
"Even if I'm sleeping… I still get hungry! You should have called me. People who eat alone are the worst, hmph!"
With that, she pulled the room door open, intending to leave, but was stopped by a firm, powerful hand.
"Where do you think you're going?"
"If you won't let me eat, can't I go out and get food myself?"
"Fine. Wait for me a moment, and I'll take you out."
*She forgets the pain once the wound is healed,* he thought. With her temperament, she was likely to make the same mistake again.
Yu Wangyou was still annoyed and ignored him entirely. Helpless, Gu Wangci quickly changed his clothes and took her out. Once they were outside, however, she had questions.
"Where is this? Isn't this the old family estate?"
"This is Ciyuan Garden."
Yu Wangyou suddenly recalled the conversation he had with the old man the day before, where he had called her the mistress of Ciyuan Garden. So… this was Ciyuan Garden?
"Didn't you want to eat?" Gu Wangci had walked a few steps ahead; seeing her still looking around, he reminded her.
"Oh, right." Remembering her empty stomach, Yu Wangyou trotted over to catch up, and he led her to a high-end restaurant.
It was a coincidence that a young socialite was proposing at the restaurant that night. No sooner had they sat down than the sound of a violin filled the air. Listening to the melodic tune, Yu Wangyou’s fingers began to move rhythmically to the music.
"This song is 'Can't Stop Love' by Darin Zanyar. It tells the story of a princess and a commoner falling in love—regardless of status or background, they stay together because of love. 'No matter what they say, I love you.'"
"So, you actually understand violin music? I underestimated you."
Yu Wangyou tilted her chin up slightly, looking proud. "There are plenty of things you don't know about me."
As they chatted over their meal, a sudden, sharp *slap* rang out. They looked over to see the young man who had been proposing get slapped across the face by the woman, who then stormed off in a fury.
Yu Wangyou didn't pay much mind to it at first, but when she took a closer look, she realized the girl looked very familiar.
"Damn! I know that girl."
"A friend of yours?"
"Last night, when I was dragged to the police station for a chat… I could have had her come to bail me out—"
Yu Wangyou stopped mid-sentence. She gave Gu Wangci a subtle, cautious glance. Seeing his face darken instantly, she quickly tried to smooth it over: "I mean, I wanted to call *you* instead."
Hearing this, Gu Wangci’s mood brightened immediately. He even peeled a shrimp for her as a gesture of care.
However, having just experienced such piercing pain earlier, she was a bit hesitant about cold, raw foods.
"Eat a little, it won't hurt."
Yu Wangyou swallowed, feeling hungry enough to eat, and didn't hesitate to pick up a shrimp with her chopsticks and pop it into her mouth.
"Mmm, delicious!"
Yu Wangyou was so delighted by the taste that her expression was practically dancing, until Gu Wangci noticed red hives starting to break out on her skin. He stopped peeling the shrimp and blocked her from reaching for another.
Yu Wangyou didn't understand and tried to grab one, only to have her hand swatted away by his chopsticks.
"But you're the one who said it was fine to eat…" Yu Wangyou muttered, rubbing her hand with a grievance-filled pout.
"Don't you know you're allergic to shrimp?"
Only then did the fact dawn on her. She covered her face and let out a frantic shriek. Gu Wangci rubbed his ears, stood up, paid the bill, and dragged her out by the hand.
