Chapter 9

Gu Xiaowei frowned in disgust the moment she saw him.
"Gu Xiaowei."
Yu Qianpan, seated in his wheelchair, maneuvered himself right in front of her. Gu Xiaowei, finding him nauseating, stepped back immediately.
"How much longer are you going to pester me?" she asked, her expression full of disdain. "I thought I had made myself clear enough."
She glared at him as he shamelessly tried to crowd her space.
"Xiaowei, I really know I was wrong. Please, just forgive me," Yu Qianpan said, looking at her with a pitiful expression.
He even reached out to grab her, but before his hand could make contact, he was struck.
Yu Wangyou shook her head and stretched, then met Yu Qianpan’s gaze, which was laced with hatred. Without saying a word, she gestured for Gu Xiaowei to move back with Su Ruowan. Gu Wangci, worried that she wouldn't have enough room to move, also stepped back.
Only then did Yu Wangyou begin.
As she balled her fists, Yu Qianpan swallowed hard, intending to reason with her. But Yu Wangyou had never been a reasonable person.
With a single punch, she sent stars dancing across his vision.
"This is a society ruled by law! You can't just go around doing whatever you want!"
"Heh, it’s just a punch. How is that 'doing whatever I want'? Consider yourself lucky I didn’t kill you."
"Don’t go too far," Gu Wangci warned. "I don’t want to have to bail you out of the police station."
"I know, I know. I won't go too far." She had been naive before, but now she wanted to be a lady—except that Yu Qianpan was just too wretched to be ignored. Give him an inch, and he’d take a mile; men like him deserved to be beaten a thousand times over.
"I’ll go somewhere hidden to beat him." Yu Wangyou circled behind Yu Qianpan and dragged him toward the stairwell next to the shopping mall restroom.
Gu Wangci’s gaze followed her. He hadn't expected his emotions to be stirred by a woman.
"Son, go and see if she needs help," Su Ruowan suggested.
"Mom, don’t worry. Sister-in-law is tough," Gu Xiaowei said, looking like a devoted fan, which made Su Ruowan shake her head.
It wasn't long before Yu Wangyou returned. One scream after another had echoed from the stairwell, but when she emerged, she was smiling as she walked back to Gu Xiaowei.
"Let’s go, let's keep shopping."
Because she had thoroughly enjoyed the workout, her mood remained excellent for the rest of the day, and Gu Wangci’s mood shifted accordingly.
"By the way, I ran into Wei Shuyu and her mother earlier."
"They didn't do anything to you, did they?"
"Of course not. Someone as capable as me—could they really bully me?" Yu Wangyou held her head high, though she immediately looked away when she caught Gu Wangci’s eyes.
"It's fortunate they didn't do anything they would regret for the rest of their lives. Otherwise... there would be no need for the Wei Family to exist anymore."
"The Wei Family has been pushing their luck for too long. If not for the fact that Old Master Wei once saved Old Man Gu’s life, how could they be so arrogant?" Su Ruowan said, burning with anger. "When we get back, I’ll have the Elder talk to the Wei family and set some boundaries so they stop stalking you."
Su Ruowan was truly terrified that her son would fall into their traps. The Wei Family had already tried to drug her son’s drink twice. The first time, he hadn’t consumed much, but the second time...
Gu Wangci cast a subtle glance at Yu Wangyou.
"Mom, don’t worry. They won't get a third chance. If they come looking for trouble again, I’ll beat them myself, regardless of who they are. If the Elder tries to plead for them, I’ll beat him too."
Back home, Old Man Gu let out a sudden, inexplicable sneeze.
The sneeze startled the members of the Wei family who were visiting. Old Man Gu rubbed his nose and said to his guests, "My apologies, I must have caught a cold recently. You know how it is—my eldest grandson and I have never been close, so there’s not much I can do about his decisions."
But internally, he was thinking: *Serves you right! Trying to drug my grandson, eh? Hmph!*
The Wei representative panicked, grabbing Old Man Gu’s hand and pleading, "My father saved your life once, after all. If not for me, do it for him—can’t you tell Wangci to let us off the hook?"
Seeing them trying to emotional blackmail him with a life-saving debt, Old Man Gu immediately splashed his boiling tea onto the man’s face.
"Don’t you dare threaten me here! Given what your foolish daughter did to my grandson, it’s only because he respects Old Master Wei that he hasn’t destroyed you yet. If there is a next time, your Wei Family will be wiped off the map in A-City. Get out!"
Scalded by the boiling water, the man started howling in pain. A group of reporters who had been lying in ambush immediately rushed in. Old Man Gu caught sight of them but remained calm.
"Is this your plan, Wei Family? It’s pathetic."
"Everyone, look at this! Look at the true face of A-City’s top elite!" the man shouted, sitting on the floor and pounding his legs while wailing and cursing the Gu family. All the while, he watched Old Man Gu from the corner of his eye, only to see him sitting there as steady as a mountain, sipping his tea.
"Typical Wei Family. A fine performance indeed," Gu Wangci said, clapping as he walked through the door. "Since the reporters have graced the Gu residence, why don't I tell you all what the Wei family has been up to over the years?"
Gu Wangci smiled at the man, who subconsciously swallowed hard. Everyone knew Gu Wangci was a "smiling tiger"—once he smiled, your fate was sealed. Gu Wangci crouched down and patted the man’s shoulder.
"Wei Quan, whatever the Gu family owed Old Master Wei has been repaid in full. If there is a next time, just wait for the Wei Family to go bankrupt."
He had already done his best to be benevolent, letting them off twice for the sake of Old Master Wei. But he was not a saint.
"Wangci, it’s just a bit of playful squabbling between friends. Is it really necessary to make such a big scene?" Wei Quan signaled for the reporters to leave.
Yu Wangyou saw this and grabbed the reporters who were trying to slip away. She leaned into their ears and whispered, "Where do you think you’re going?"
The reporters recognized that voice—it was like the Grim Reaper calling from hell.
"Either you stay here and keep filming, or..." Yu Wangyou cracked her knuckles. The reporters shuddered.
"We’ll film, we’ll film!" they cried, terrified.
Yu Wangyou stood behind them with her arms crossed. Gu Wangci glanced at her, then hauled Wei Quan up and handed him over to her. She offered Gu Wangci a faint smile, but when she turned her gaze back to Wei Quan, her eyes turned icy. Wei Quan, however, gave a sneer of contempt.
"Gu Wangci, you’re actually handing me over to a woman?"
"Heh! Handing you to her is enough to put you in your place." Gu Wangci still remembered the power of those two punches; if he hadn’t had a tough face, he probably wouldn't have been able to show his face in public.
"Just don't kill him."
"Got it." Yu Wangyou took Wei Quan from his grip and dragged him to a secluded area.
Her fists rained down on him like hail. "Hah! Think you can look down on me? Not every woman needs to rely on a man to survive!"
Wei Quan’s agonizing screams made the two reporters, still stuck at their posts, feel like they were sitting on needles, terrified that the female demon would come out and beat them next.
After she had vented enough, Yu Wangyou grabbed Wei Quan by the collar, her eyes full of malice. "Do you yield?"
Wei Quan was half-dead, but he stubbornly spat, "I don't!"
"You don't yield, huh? Fine!"
Tired from the beating, Yu Wangyou turned and dragged him by the scruff of his neck like a dead dog, hauling him back out. "Damn it! Still so stubborn!"
Gu Wangci glanced at Yu Wangyou. Seeing her rubbing her wrists, he ordered the bodyguards to take Wei Quan away. "Throw him at the front door of the Wei residence."
The bodyguards followed the order and immediately dragged Wei Quan away.
Yu Wangyou plopped onto the sofa and nudged Old Man Gu. "Old Man Gu, move over."
Old Man Gu obliged, shifting to the side, and Yu Wangyou immediately collapsed onto the couch, completely drained.
