Bai Qian watched helplessly as her father was struck down to the ground by Moyuan and Emperor Donghua, and then watched as his soul was searched, until he finally turned into a drooling simpleton.
She had broken down several times. She was clearly already Yehua's Heavenly Empress, and no one had ever discovered the things her father had done.
Yet in this world, it was a completely different ending: not only had she failed to marry Yehua, but her father's greatest secret had been exposed.
What on earth had happened?
Her gaze involuntarily swept across the scene until she caught sight of Baize standing beside Yaoguang.
That was right, it was this person. In her own world, there had been no such man—and he was even Yaoguang's partner!
She wanted to expose this man, but she no longer had the strength.
Baizhi had already become a fool, and the body that sustained the secret arts was ruined.
Backlashed by that secret art, Baizhi transformed into a decrepit old man in an instant.
His hair turned completely white, and his once-handsome face was covered in wrinkles.
Right before everyone's eyes, he actually aged and died.
Meanwhile, Bai Qian's originally beautiful face also began to change, transforming from youth and vitality into an old woman in her seventies or eighties.
Her cultivation level as a High God plummeted all the way down to a Goddess before the backward trend finally came to a halt.
Though they did not know what would happen to the others in Qingqiu, one could easily tell from these two that the ending would hardly be good.
Knowing about it was one thing, but going to Qingqiu in person to see the situation was quite another.
Everyone present was an immortal, so traveling to Qingqiu was no difficult task.
Upon arriving above Qingqiu, they discovered that the former celestial wonderland was no more, leaving behind only thick demonic Qi.
These foxes, once favored by the Heavenly Dao, had actually become forsaken remnants, transforming from immortals into demons.
The crowd sighed with emotion, exchanging glances, yet each saw the greed in the other's eyes.
After all, across the Four Seas and Eight Desolations, the Qingqiu fox clan alone occupied the Five Desolations.
Now that these foxes had become demons and their ringleader was dead, the remaining little foxes were merely fish on a chopping board.
They could only submit to whatever was done to them.
If they didn't go seize territory right now, when would they?
The originally joyous grand wedding had ended up like this because of Bai Qian.
"No guests, no problem. They weren't being sincere anyway. Having my master and elder brother is more than enough!"
Jinchen had never liked those opportunistic people to begin with; he had only wanted a lively atmosphere with many people attending the wedding today.
Most of them had left because of the incident in Qingqiu.
So what? His and Jinyun's families, relatives, and friends were all here anyway, and this was the best wedding feast possible.
"Mhm."
Jinyun nodded in agreement.
And so, amidst the gazes of everyone offering their blessings, the newlyweds entered the bridal chamber.
While a joyous wedding feast was being held on this side, a war for territory was breaking out on the other side, with the Heavenly Lord being one of the major giants.
He led numerous Celestial Soldiers and generals, intending to take back the territory.
He had thought that relying on his status and the reputation of Emperor Donghua would allow him to easily recapture the land.
As it turned out, very few people gave him any face.
A few even tried to teach him a lesson while taking advantage of the chaos.
Not only did he fail to take advantage of anyone, but he suffered losses instead.
Furious, the Heavenly Lord hurriedly returned to the Heavenly Realm, preparing to summon more soldiers and generals.
However, his hopes were shattered directly this time.
For no other reason than that Emperor Donghua had returned, and had not only stripped him of his position as Heavenly Lord, but had also banished his entire family to the North Sea, reducing the Heavenly Lord's family to mere Water Lords. They were all crammed into the home of the former Second Prince Sangji—the very man they once looked down upon—watching his little water-snake bride give birth to one child after another.
In those days, even having a large family had become a sin.
To let his disciple enjoy a few more days of peace, Emperor Donghua took over the management of the Heavenly Realm for a few days.
As soon as Jinchen and Jinyun had enjoyed their three days of bliss, they were hauled up to the Heavenly Realm by their dear master.
Thus, Jinchen became the new Heavenly Lord. On the very first day of his reign,
he appointed Jinyun as the Heavenly Queen.
On the second day, putting capable people to good use, he summoned the former Third Prince of the Celestial Tribe
to handle state affairs for him.
By the fourth, fifth, and sixth days of his reign,
whereas the former Heavenly Lord had hoarded power and deliberately misplaced talented individuals out of fear, Jinchen—eager to shirk his duties and spend time with his wife—promoted capable people back to their rightful posts.
On top of that, many mortals who cultivated and ascended were also assigned to appropriate positions.
From then on, the Heavenly Realm was no longer the foul, murky place it had been under Haode's rule.
Instead, the seas were clear and the rivers calm; all immortals were treated as equals, and no one could lord it over others simply by virtue of their noble birth or bloodline.
After Jinchen and Jinyun ascended to the Heavenly Realm,
Yaoguang and Baize set off to travel the mortal realm once again. Jinyun returned to Yaoguang Palace several times, but never caught sight of either of them.
It was not until tens of thousands of years later that Baize came up to the heavens, bringing a child with him.
He claimed the infant was a daughter born to him and Yaoguang, and asked them to take good care of her as Jinchen's younger sister.
She was a beast of white marsh inheriting Baize's divine mission. Initially, Baize had been overjoyed that the baby was a girl.
However, Yaoguang's lifespan had been severely shortened on account of giving birth to her.
She no longer possessed that boundless, eternal life.
Wishing to spend her remaining days solely by Yaoguang's side, Baize ultimately decided to send the child away to the celestial palace after much deliberation.
Leaving aside the harrowing, heart-wrenching romance that would later unfold between this child and Zheyan's young son,
let us turn to the present. Following the mutual destruction of Emperor Donghua and Miaoluo,
both Zheyan and Moyuan reached the ends of their lifespans.
Baize and Yaoguang watched them depart, and finally, Yaoguang's time came as well.
Jinchen searched everywhere for rare medicines, hoping to extend Yaoguang's life, but alas...
On the day Yaoguang passed away, Baize merely asked Jinchen to take good care of his sister, wife, and children,
before taking his own life by Yaoguang's side.
He said he had come into this world solely because Yaoguang was in it.
With Yaoguang gone, living no longer held any meaning for him.
At the end of the story, Jinchen watched elder after elder depart. In the long river of time,
he truly became a sovereign emperor—aside from his wife and children, he was utterly alone.
Fortunately, amidst his lonely life, he still had Jinyun by his side,
along with their children...
