Fortunately, the great battle was over, and all that remained for the moment was to clear the battlefield.
Baize's remark drew numerous gazes. Yaoguang's mouth twitched slightly, but she could do nothing with Baize.
Before more people could send teasing glances her way, she quickly pulled Baize along and left.
She would not participate in the final distribution of rewards for merit.
She had not returned to Yaoguang Palace for a long time, but the estate's maids had always kept it clean.
The onlookers only saw a streak of light flash past.
The open doors slammed shut with a loud bang.
"You're acting up again. When did I ever say I liked Moyuan, hmm?"
Before she even had time to take off her armor, Yaoguang used her hilt to press against a vulnerable spot on Baize,
radiating an aura that if he did not give her an explanation today, she would not let him off.
"Wuwuwu, the General is so terrifying! This person merely said a few words about that man, yet you bully me so. As expected, a substitute is just a substitute~"
He was starting again.
Ever since Baize went to the mortal realm and listened to storytellers, he had practically turned into an utter drama queen.
Depending on the stories told by the storytellers, he played different characters from the tales every day.
Sometimes he was a down-and-out young master from a wealthy family; sometimes he was a helpless, fragile flower whose parents had both died.
It seemed today's trope was the substitute.
The corners of Yaoguang's mouth turned up as she reached out and patted Baize's face.
"Then if you serve this General well today, how about I promote you to primary husband?"
"Really?"
A flash of amusement crossed Baize's eyes, but he immediately put on a frightened expression again.
"Naturally!"
"Then the General must keep her word. A Ze wants nothing else—as long as I can be with the General, I don't even care about official status. The General must not argue with that man on account of A Ze."
Seeing him thoroughly enjoying his solo performance, Yaoguang was happy to play along.
As he spoke, Baize leaned in and pecked Yaoguang's lips lightly, then blinked his bright, sparkling eyes and looked at her expectantly.
"Mm... what should I do?"
"General, don't be like this. A Ze was wrong~"
Baize twisted on the bed like a twisted dough twist, his face as red as a monkey's backside.
Allowing him to carry on as he pleased, Yaoguang's eyes darkened, and with a crisp snap,
the armor on her body fell apart.
……
Finally waiting for their High God to return, before the maids could rush over to inquire,
they saw a massive barrier encasing the room.
Outside was a clear, sunny sky; inside, a raging storm.
The two seemed to be journeying together on a river when a massive wave struck, causing their small boat to rock from side to side on the water.
At last, after who knows how long, the surface of the river returned to normal.
The small boat stopped swaying, and the sunlight glistened upon the rippling water.
"A Ze, I often feel that if I hadn't met you, my life probably would have turned out just like in that dream."
Leading the warriors of the Sujin Clan to a tragic death, their demise brushed aside with a single stroke of a pen,
stirring up not the slightest ripple.
"That was a dream. Am I not right here by your side, safe and sound?"
Baize was busy leaving love bites on Yaoguang's neck; how could he have time to talk to Yaoguang about such impractical things?
"That's true. I woke up to find you right beside me, and even married to me. They all say I raised you like a female beast, but none of them know that it is I who cannot live without A Ze."
She buried herself in Baize's embrace, a deep, muffled chuckle rumbling in her throat.
Only until the moment Qing Cang died did Yaoguang truly feel that she was still alive.
"General has such great stamina. It's still early—shall we go again?"
Baize's hand reached out once more toward a certain voluptuous curve.
"To ascend to bliss once more!"
A new battle was about to erupt at the slightest touch. Yaoguang's gaze grew dark as she looked down at Baize beneath her,
leaned over, and kissed him.
"A Ze, you must stay with me!"
