Seven or eight oval blood cocoons, each over a person’s height, floated and bobbed in the blood pool. With most of their bulk above the surface, faint silhouettes could be seen imprinted within them. In the center drifted a pole, neither quite a sword nor a staff, adorned with a blood-red banner. Streams of blood, resembling meridians, flowed from the cocoons, converged upon the pole, and were eventually absorbed by the banner.
