Light shimmered as Lín Yì and his four confidantes were enveloped by the tremendous power of the portal. In an instant, the world turned upside down, and space and time twisted and folded around them. When the light dissipated, they found themselves in a city brimming with a sense of technology and a futuristic atmosphere—Mirror City.
Mirror City’s buildings soared into the clouds, their streamlined metal facades shimmering with a cold luster under the sunlight. Flying vehicles zipped back and forth on the city’s three-dimensional transit tracks, emitting soft whistling sounds. The streets were bustling with pedestrians: some were humans like themselves, while others were various mechanical lifeforms and strange races. Shop windows along the street displayed an array of high-tech goods, and billboards filled with interlacing light and shadow played dazzling advertisements.
"Is this Mirror City? It’s completely different from the ancient desert city," Isabella exclaimed. She looked around with curiosity, her eyes flashing with excitement. The Ice Crystal Staff in her hand swayed gently with her movements, as if infected by the vitality of the city.
"Mirror City is one of Hykros' important strongholds on this continent, and also a gathering place for technology and civilization," Xing Huan explained. Her gaze wandered among the city’s buildings, attempting to uncover clues related to ancient civilizations within these modern structures. Her golden eyes glittered with contemplation, as if she were mentally verifying the scene before her against records from ancient books.
"But I always feel like there’s a secret hidden here; there’s an indescribable sense of dissonance," Carol said, furrowing her brow. Her mechanical senses keenly captured the energy fluctuations and subtle sounds in the vicinity. The indicator lights on her mechanical arm flickered rapidly, as if conveying some anomalous information to her.
Just then, a group of people wearing uniform attire approached them. Leading them was a tall man with a stern expression, his eyes exuding an unquestionable authority: "Are you the adventurers who came from the ancient desert city? Come with us; the Archon wants to see you."
The group exchanged glances. Although filled with doubt, they understood that it was unwise to resist easily in this unfamiliar place. Thus, led by the group, they arrived at the Archon's Mansion.
Inside the Archon's Mansion, the decor was luxurious and solemn. Massive crystal chandeliers cast a soft glow, reflecting upon the exquisite murals on the walls. These murals depicted the history of Aida, from the arrival of humanity to the construction of the Tower of Fantasy, and finally the descent of the calamity; each one was vivid, as if narrating some magnificent and expansive story.
The Archon sat behind a huge desk. His gaze swept over everyone before finally settling on the Holy Radiance Crystal in Lín Yì’s hand: "It is no small feat that you were able to find the Holy Radiance Crystal. But do you know that this Holy Radiance Crystal concerns the fate of Aida and the safety of Mirror City?"
Lín Yì gripped the Holy Radiance Crystal tightly and asked vigilantly: "What do you want to do?"
The Archon smiled slightly: "Do not be nervous; I mean no harm. I only hope that you will cooperate with Mirror City to solve the secrets hidden on Aida together and stop an impending calamity."
As it turned out, throughout the long history of Aida, an energy imbalance crisis would emerge at regular intervals. This time, signs of the crisis had already begun to appear. According to research by Mirror City’s scientific researchers, the collapse of the Tower of Fantasy was not accidental but related to a type of ancient evil power. This power had been lurking in the shadows, constantly seeking an opportunity to descend once more and devour the entirety of Aida. The Holy Radiance Crystal was the key to countering this evil power.
"We need your help to use the power of the Holy Radiance Crystal to find the ancient ruins hidden across Aida, obtain the Energy Cores within them, repair the Tower of Fantasy, and prevent the resurgence of this evil power," the Archon said earnestly.
After consulting with one another, the group decided to accept the Archon's request. After all, their purpose in coming to Aida was to save this world, and now, they seemed to have found a path toward achieving that goal.
With the help of Mirror City’s researchers, the group learned more information about the ancient ruins and the Energy Cores. According to ancient records, multiple ancient civilizations once existed on Aida, and the ruins left behind by these civilizations were distributed in every corner of the continent. Every ruin hid an Energy Core; these Energy Cores contained massive amounts of energy and were the key to repairing the Tower of Fantasy.
In order to acquire the Energy Cores, the group embarked on a new adventure. Their first stop was a mysterious forest located on the outskirts of Mirror City. According to intelligence, an ancient ruin was hidden in this forest, and it might just contain the Energy Core they needed.
When the group stepped into the forest, they immediately felt a mysterious and ancient aura. The trees in the forest were tall and dense, and the sunlight filtered through layers of branches and leaves to spill onto the ground in patches of light. A faint mist permeated the surroundings, making the forest appear even more mysterious and unfathomable.
As they walked, Isabella suddenly stopped: "I think I heard something." She pricked up her ears, listening carefully to the sounds around her. The Ice Crystal Staff in her hand glowed slightly, seemingly responding to her nervous emotions.
Just then, a group of vines suddenly burst from the ground, winding toward the group. These vines were thick and tough, covered in sharp thorns and emitting a nauseating odor.
"Look out!" Lín Yì shouted, swiftly drawing his weapon and severing the approaching vines. However, the vines seemed endless, surging forward in wave after wave.
Carol activated the cutting device on her mechanical arm and began to slice through the surrounding vines: "These vines are very strange; it’s as if they are being controlled by some power."
Xing Huan waved her staff, unleashing the powerful Stardust Energy to push the surrounding vines away: "I feel an evil will within the forest; it is blocking our path forward."
Shirli drew her bow and notched an arrow, the energy-infused arrow shooting toward the roots of the vines like lightning, trying to sever their source of energy: "No matter what it is, we cannot back down!"
With the concerted effort of the group, they finally managed to beat back the vines' attack for the time being. However, before they could even catch their breath, they heard a low, rumbling roar coming from the depths of the forest. Immediately after, a massive Treant slowly emerged from the woods. The Treant’s body was made of thick tree trunks, its eyes glowed with a red light, and it swung a massive branch in its hand, breaking nearby trees wherever it went.
"Is this the Treant that guards the forest? How did it become so evil?" Isabella said in terror.
"It seems this forest has been eroded by some evil power, and the Treant has been affected as well." Lín Yì gripped his weapon tightly, preparing to face the Treant’s attack.
The Treant waved its branch and brought it down hard upon the group. Lín Yì flashed to the side, dodging the attack, and then rushed toward the Treant, launching a violent assault using a fusion of Heart-Sea Energy and other powers. Carol utilized her mechanical arm’s ranged attack capabilities, continuously firing energy projectiles at the Treant. Shirli’s arrows rained down upon the Treant, seeking its weak points. Xing Huan manipulated Stardust Energy to disturb and weaken it, while Isabella summoned ice crystals, creating rows of ice spikes around the Treant to try and impede its movements.
Under the group's assault, the Treant gradually fell into a predicament. Its body was riddled with wounds, and its movements became sluggish. Just as the Treant prepared to launch a final strike, Lín Yì seized the opportunity, channeling all his energy into his weapon, and fiercely stabbed into the Treant’s core.
The Treant let out a pained roar, its body slowly collapsing and turning into a pile of splintered wood. The group let out a sigh of relief and sheathed their weapons.
"Finally, it's finished." Shirli wiped the sweat from her forehead and said. A weary but contented smile appeared on her face; this battle had allowed them to better understand each other's strength and filled them with confidence for the adventures to come.
"This is just the beginning; there are certainly more dangers in the forest." Xing Huan reminded them, "We must proceed with caution and absolutely cannot let down our guard." A hint of worry radiated from her eyes; the secret of this forest seemed more complex than they had imagined.
Continuing forward, the group finally found the ancient ruin after passing through the forest. The gate of the ruin was shut tight, inscribed with strange symbols and patterns as if telling a forgotten history.
"How do we open this door?" Isabella asked curiously as she reached out to touch the patterns on the door, trying to find the mechanism to open it.
"Let me see." Xing Huan stepped forward and observed the symbols on the door carefully. She found relevant records in the ancient books and, following the instructions, channeled energy into specific spots on the door.
With a low, rumbling sound, the gate slowly opened, and a musty yet mysterious aura rushed out. The group walked into the ruin with caution. Inside, it was dim and silent, with glowing gemstones embedded in the walls illuminating the path ahead.
Deep within the ruin, they finally found the Energy Core. It hovered in mid-air, emitting a blue light and surrounded by a ring of mysterious runes.
"This is it; we’ve found it!" Lín Yì said excitedly, reaching out to touch the Energy Core.
Just then, a group of mechanical monsters suddenly swarmed out from within the ruin. These monsters had bodies made of metal and came in various shapes—some like spiders, others like scorpions. Their eyes flashed with red light as they charged toward the group.
"Everyone, watch out!" Lín Yì yelled as he and the others took up battle stances. Carol’s mechanical arm instantly switched to attack mode, releasing powerful electric currents that knocked back the encroaching mechanical monsters. Shirli’s arrows streaked toward the monsters like rain, each one striking its target with precision. Xing Huan manipulated Stardust Energy, creating energy whirlpools among the horde of mechanical monsters and pulling them in. Isabella summoned more ice crystals to create a layer of ice on the floor, slowing the monsters down.
However, the number of mechanical monsters was growing, and the group gradually became bogged down in a difficult battle. Just as they felt they were losing the upper hand, Lín Yì suddenly thought of the power they had attained during their previous battles. He closed his eyes, feeling the intentions of his four confidantes, and channeled his Heart-Sea Energy into his weapon. His weapon instantly shimmered with an even more magnificent light, radiating a breathtaking force.
"Everyone, together! Channel your energy into my weapon!" Lín Yì shouted. The group nodded, channeling their energy into Lín Yì’s weapon through the Heart-Sea Contract.
Lín Yì, brandishing the multi-colored shimmering weapon, charged into the group of mechanical monsters. He moved at incredible speed, flashing across the ruin like lightning; wherever he passed, the mechanical monsters fell. With their concerted efforts, they finally defeated all the mechanical monsters.
The group successfully obtained the Energy Core and returned to Mirror City with it. With the help of the scientific researchers, they fused the Energy Core with the Holy Radiance Crystal, further enhancing its power.
However, they knew this was only the beginning. There were more ancient ruins on Aida waiting for them to explore, and more Energy Cores waiting to be retrieved. Hidden behind this all was a massive secret concerning the fate of the entire world. They had to race against the clock to save this world teetering on the edge of darkness...
