A farmer's market.
Li Zhen’s phone rang.
It was Tang Yun.
"Wife," Li Zhen said in a soft, gentle voice.
There was a long pause on the other end before she finally spoke, "Will having Xiao Yu stay with you be too much trouble?"
"She's my own sister, why talk about trouble? You aren't being a good girl. I'm going to have to spank you!"
"Li Zhen, please don't be like this, okay? You..."
"Call me husband!" Li Zhen interrupted.
"Li..."
"Call me husband, or I’ll spank you when you get home!" Li Zhen teased.
Tang Yun on the other end stayed silent for a long moment.
Li Zhen was in no rush.
"Hus..."
Hearing that word, Li Zhen’s heart suddenly leaped with joy.
"Hus... husband!"
"Good girl. You’re off work, right? Where are you? I’ll come pick you up."
"I have to work overtime. Two Grandmaster Realm Martial Artists were murdered and dumped in a busy downtown area."
"Huh?" Li Zhen was caught between laughter and tears.
He had killed two Grandmaster Realm experts, and it ended up causing his own wife to work overtime? If he had known, he would have dragged those two losers far outside of Yangcheng before dumping them. What a tactical blunder!
"Wait a minute," Li Zhen suddenly remembered. "They were two Grandmaster Realm experts. Little girl, that kind of case isn't something you should be involved in!"
He remembered the rules: one handles cases according to one’s cultivation level. Tang Yun had only awakened a few days ago—how was she qualified to handle such a case?
Just then, voices of others calling for Tang Yun came through the receiver.
"I have to get back to work!"
Then, the line went dead.
Li Zhen sighed, suddenly losing interest in cooking. But remembering that Zhou Ze was coming over that evening and that there was a wilful little girl at home, he had no choice but to continue shopping.
After finishing his shopping, Li Zhen drove home. On the way, he suddenly saw a graceful silhouette walking ahead. Beside her, a man was fawning over her, and a luxury car was crawling along behind them.
"Beep beep!"
Li Zhen honked twice.
"Damn it, do you have any common sense? Just because you have a piece-of-junk car, you think you can honk at people? Don't you see these two are having a private conversation? If you ruin a beautiful romance because of your honking, you'll be responsible for a crime ten thousand deaths couldn't atone for, you know that?"
As Chen Zhidong’s most loyal lackey, Su Daqiang stopped the car and threatened Li Zhen.
Tang Yun had recognized Li Zhen immediately, and her eyes lit up as she hopped into his car.
"The experts from the Zhenjiang Special Affairs Bureau arrived and took over the case. They told us not to get involved anymore," Tang Yun quickly explained, afraid that Li Zhen might misunderstand.
"What are you doing here?"
Tang Yun’s mood had improved significantly, a fact she likely hadn't even noticed herself.
"My wife is so beautiful; if I don't keep a close eye on her, what would I do if she got lost?" Li Zhen teased, his eyes filled with doting affection. He had gotten Hang Zhensheng to pull all of Tang Yun’s files, and the more he learned, the more he cherished her.
Tang Yun was deeply embarrassed, her fair cheeks flushing a deep crimson.
"Li Zhen, it’s you?" Su Daqiang frowned.
Chen Zhidong walked to the front of Li Zhen’s car, glanced at it, and a look of disdain crossed his face. A car worth only a little over a hundred thousand—a poor wretch indeed! A piece of junk like this wasn't worthy of a beauty like Tang Yun.
He tapped on the window.
Li Zhen rolled it down. "Young Master Chen, what is it?"
Chen Zhidong, acting very haughty, said coldly, "Get out. Let’s go talk."
He hadn't expected the rumors about Li Zhen and Tang Yun being married to be true. This was something Chen Zhidong could not allow. After speaking, he turned and walked away, acting arrogant, taking it for granted that Li Zhen would follow him like a servant. He didn't even give Li Zhen a chance to refuse. In his mind, simply allowing Li Zhen to come over and speak to him was the greatest sincerity he could show.
Li Zhen was speechless. A small-fry like him was acting so pompous in front of him? Even he, a Demon God, didn't act that arrogant. He ignored him entirely, drove off, and left the two of them engulfed in pungent exhaust fumes.
"What the hell! Li Zhen, stop this car!" Su Daqiang was the first to notice and shouted immediately.
"Li Zhen!! Get your ass back here!!"
Chen Zhidong felt played. An unprecedented sense of humiliation made him feel like he was about to vomit blood. He never expected a tiny, ordinary person to dare pull a stunt like this on him. Seeing that Li Zhen had no intention of stopping, Chen Zhidong drew his gun and aimed.
"Young Master, don't be rash, there are people everywhere!" Su Daqiang hurriedly blocked Chen Zhidong, gesturing to the many people watching.
Knowing the young master’s temper, he knew he really would dare to pull the trigger. If that happened, they would surely be in the evening news. Daxia’s punishments for Martial Artists bullying ordinary people were severe.
"Hmph! Li Zhen, just you wait!" Chen Zhidong clenched his fists, wishing he could tear Li Zhen to pieces.
***
"Chen Zhidong was calling you." Seeing that Li Zhen had really driven away, Tang Yun couldn't help but remind him.
"I’m not his father. Just because he calls, doesn't mean I have to go," Li Zhen said, completely indifferent.
"Pfft!" Tang Yun was stunned for a moment, then couldn't help but burst into laughter.
Seeing this, Li Zhen was instantly enchanted.
"You..." Feeling Li Zhen’s aggressive, fervent gaze, Tang Yun’s face went hot. She bit her lip, feeling completely speechless. How could this guy have no sense of restraint at all?
"Girl, you should smile more often!" Li Zhen said.
Hearing this, Tang Yun cast a quick glance at him. Remembering something, she pursed her lips and lowered her head.
"Where’s Xiao Yu?"
"She’s at home. She had a breakthrough and is currently stabilizing her cultivation... Wait, what!?"
As Li Zhen spoke, he suddenly noticed that Tang Yun was already a Grandmaster Realm Martial Artist.
"Girl, you... do you have a system too?" Li Zhen stopped the car and stared at her. If she wasn't a cheater, how could she have gone from an ordinary person to a Grandmaster Realm Martial Artist in just three or four days?
Tang Yun looked confused. "What system?"
"Your cultivation..."
"My bloodline awakened!" Remembering how her bloodline had awakened, Tang Yun gave Li Zhen a sideways look and returned to her icy demeanor, though the red tint on her neck betrayed her.
Li Zhen clicked his tongue. Was bloodline awakening really that powerful?
"Don't feel pressured!" Seeing Li Zhen’s strange expression, Tang Yun assumed he felt discouraged and was feeling suppressed, so she offered a sweet, thoughtful comfort.
"Pressure? Not at all!" Li Zhen started the car again and drove toward their apartment complex. Along the way, Tang Yun kept glancing at Li Zhen from the corner of her eye. Li Zhen found it quite amusing.
When they arrived downstairs, Tang Yun suddenly grabbed Li Zhen’s sleeve and gathered her courage to say, "No matter what level of cultivation I reach, you are still my... my... husband!"
If not for Li Zhen’s incredible hearing, the last few words would have been inaudible. Li Zhen froze, looking at Tang Yun in surprise. He hadn't expected her to say something so "courageous."
Li Zhen felt satisfied. This sentence was something Tang Yun had spent the entire trip pondering, using up every ounce of her courage to say. He pulled her into his arms. Feeling her softness and smelling the fragrance lingering in the air, he realized that in the three hundred years since he had arrived in this world, this was the first time he understood that happiness actually had a shape.
Smells so good!
So big!
So round!
So soft!
"What are you two doing?! Li Zhen, you big pervert, let go of her right now!"
Suddenly, a scream shattered the tender moment.
Li Zhen: (??_?)
