Ensuring it was firmly attached, he pulled the bolt, chambering a round with a crisp metallic click. His gaze burning like a torch, he then pulled a grenade from his tactical vest, nimbly yanked the safety pin, silently counted to three in his head, and hurled it hard toward the rear right of a large tree. The grenade traced an arc through the air, landing squarely amidst the group of Japanese Army soldiers.
