The Japanese soldier who had narrowly escaped with his life from the booby trap set by Leitao stumbled all the way back to camp. His face was ashen, terror still lingering in his eyes. His clothes were in tatters, and he bore several scrapes from the explosion. Bursting into the camp, he collapsed directly in front of the Japanese lieutenant, wheezing heavily. It took him a long while to catch his breath before he stammered out his report: "Sir, the sentries... were attacked. We fell into a guerrilla ambush... I... I barely made it out alive."
Hearing this, the Japanese lieutenant's face darkened instantly. His brow furrowed, his eyes burning with fury and unease. He immediately assembled a squad of soldiers and hurried to the scene of the attack.
Upon arriving, they found the sentries' corpses strewn about amidst total chaos. The Japanese lieutenant approached cautiously, intending to inspect the bodies. A sharp-eyed soldier suddenly shouted, "Sir, watch out! There's something wrong with the bodies!"
