The sun was already setting, staining the horizon a deep orange. The lingering glow cast a golden veil over the forest, but they had no time to admire the scenery. As darkness fell, visibility in the forest dropped, and the path beneath their feet became increasingly treacherous. Leitao led the way, his expression grave, his senses attuned to every movement around him. Suddenly, he stopped and raised a hand to signal for silence. Lowering his voice, he whispered, "Everyone, be careful. The atmosphere around here feels wrong; I sense danger approaching." The group immediately tensed, gripping their weapons as their eyes scanned the darkness with vigilance. At that moment, a soft rustle of footsteps came from the side. Everyone instantly aimed their weapons at the source of the sound. A figure emerged slowly from the woods—an elderly man, tattered and leaning on a walking stick, his face etched with exhaustion and the trials of life. The group eased their posture slightly, though they remained on guard.
