Xu Keming fired his Thompson submachine gun to suppress the Japanese agents, all the while keeping a watchful eye on his team members as they reached the shore. Seeing them arrive safely one by one put his mind at ease. Deep within the reed marsh, two Japanese agents remained, using the dense stalks as cover to mount a desperate resistance. Xu Keming knew that this stalemate could not continue. He had to neutralize these two enemies quickly to provide support for Leitao, who was in pursuit of Uesugi Kazuya. He gestured to a team member nearby who had just finished clearing water from his weapon. The two shared a silent understanding and decided to flank the enemy from both sides. Xu Keming raised his Thompson submachine gun and unleashed a fierce barrage of gunfire into the reeds to pin the enemies down. His teammate crouched low and moved rapidly toward the right, utilizing the terrain of the marsh to silently close in on their position. Simultaneously, another team member circled around from the left, his steps as light as a jungle cat’s, careful not to make a sound that might alert the enemy. The reeds rustled in the breeze, masking his subtle movements.
