The squad leader of the Japanese Army special detachment suddenly sensed a sniper lurking in the shadows. His expression darkened instantly, and he barked at the two soldiers beside him, "You two, move up with caution! Find that marksman and eliminate him!" The soldiers swallowed hard, leveled their rifles, and began a cautious, search-oriented advance toward the direction of Leitao. Leitao, watching everything clearly from the rooftop, made a split-second decision. He set aside his sniper rifle and drew his M1911 pistol from the holster on his leg. With practiced movements, he racked the slide to chamber a round and disengaged the safety in one fluid motion. Crouching low, he moved with swift, light footsteps along the roof tiles until he reached the eaves. He knelt, eyes locked on the two Japanese soldiers creeping toward him. The two soldiers were tense, their muzzles sweeping left and right as they scanned their surroundings, closing in one step at a time. When they were close enough, Leitao suddenly popped up, held the pistol steady with both hands, and squeezed the trigger without hesitation. "Bang! Bang!" The bullets tore from the barrel. The soldier on the left took a hit to the temple; his head snapped sideways, his eyes bulging in terror as he collapsed backward. The one on the right took a bullet to the center of his forehead; he didn't even sway before crashing to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
