Relying on his memory from the previous reconnaissance mission, Leitao quickly located the dark and damp cell. Outside the prison, two Japanese Army soldiers were pacing back and forth in a panic. Although they still gripped their rifles tightly, their trembling hands betrayed the fear in their hearts. Leitao flashed forward like a bolt of black lightning, approaching them without a sound. Before the two Japanese soldiers could react, the dagger in Leitao’s hand had already precisely slashed across their throats. They fell silently, and blood began to spread slowly across the ground, as if recounting their crimes and the punishment they had received.
Leitao swiftly opened the cell door, and a pungent, foul stench rushed out. In the dimly lit cell, a group of ragged village women huddled in the corner. Their eyes were wide with terror, and their faces were gaunt. Upon seeing Leitao appear, they were stunned for a moment, and then a glimmer of hope sparked in their eyes, only to be quickly masked by fear—they were clearly terrified by the atrocities committed by the Japanese Army.
"Fellow villagers, don't be afraid. I am here to save you!" Leitao lowered his voice, trying to keep his tone gentle, as if soothing wounded lambs.
