Inside a small shop filled with the aroma of coffee, Leitao and Alice sat across from each other. Sunlight filtered through the stained glass, casting mottled patterns of light and shadow across the wooden table. Leitao picked up his coffee cup and took a small sip. As the bitterness spread, he frowned, set the cup down, and looked at Alice.
"Congratulations, great reporter," Leitao said with an approving smile. "Your photo collection caused quite a stir after its release; you’re a celebrity now."
Alice proudly brushed back her blonde hair, the corners of her mouth curling upward. "Haha, those photos are my life's work. I want the whole world to see what's happening here and to know about the atrocities of the Japanese Army." Her eyes grew deep, as if she could see the city outside, ravaged by fire and scarred by war.
