Liu Ruyu asked anxiously, "Doctor, how is Yan'er?"
The doctor frowned deeply. He examined Shen Xiyan’s fingers, then lifted the corner of her quilt to inspect her purple, swollen feet. Sighing, he said, "Miss Shen has suffered a severe invasion of cold into her system. Her current unconsciousness is due to her body attempting to recover its warmth, but her hands and feet have been severely frostbitten. She must remain on bed rest and have frostbite ointment applied daily. Otherwise, if the chilblains ulcerate, the scarring will be the least of your worries; if the frostbite is too severe, she may lose the ability to walk or hold a pen."
Liu Ruyu nearly fainted from fright and pleaded, "Doctor, you must cure my daughter! She cannot be left with any scars on her hands or feet!"
